Cate’s bass playing on this is a bit of a revelation. Love that speedy, tumbling/rising riff she does right before “I was in trouble” on the choruses. When I first heard this song I thought, “enh, a bit too New Wavey for me, better than the last album, but I don’t know…” … and now I’ve listened to this song about 300 times.
@alm46552 жыл бұрын
Didn't know that was her on bass, and that's such an important aspect of the song😍
@balloonfiesta15 Жыл бұрын
fun fact: she wrote this album while in lockdown and experimented with songwriting by creating the songs on bass first. thats why the bass parts throughout this album go so hard

It took a bit for Cate to grow on me, but now I know it's true love. The intricate details of the music in this tune blows me away. I can almost hear Miami in the background. This album is going to be a cuddler.

Is that real mother of pearl was something people use to ask a lot because it meant their necklace or jewelry was worth something. So she could be saying she prefers material things over poetry and empty words. Which is probably most likely a sarcastic line.

Pretty sure the press report said she played all the instruments except drums and sax- also heard Cate used the bass to compose the songs. Last album she used piano to write a lot of the songs and previous to that of course she was mainly guitar. She's so awesome.
