From a contractor’s point of view, if you are going to own scrapers you must keep them busy. They are a huge investment. Thumbs up 👍!!! Great video!

21's are a good size for smaller jobs, ez to move and get around ,lower ground pressure, and still have a decent payload to make it worth having

These operators were taught well, keeping their bowl close to the ground while loaded...seems to be a lesson lost on most operators now days.

How come the scrapers can't make the cut under their own steam? Just particularly hard ground? Would it be more efficient for the Dozer to rip the area first and then he can go off and do something else whilst they scrape the ripped ground?
@terryday63182 жыл бұрын
no scrapers do the work and dozers button up , if dozers to it well takes longer plus scrapers hold more

My observation only: it's a grading and excavating operation, tight space,, your running small pulls only, they're over loading the cans, so why not high side the cans: or better yet, put 51's in the dirt: cost more, but move more faster: there doing over load capacity, so high side the cans: it' will make for cracks, other wise, need larger cans: you can always stretch a can or two for match set up: although, there is the 637 B, never could hold up under over load conditions; never cared for it. weak machine, No idea what the current ones are about. I been retired for years. I still recall the hot doggers coming around corners on two wheels with the 641 A models from back in the day. even so, We had the 666 running in the main cuts .Groves: that was before McCoy came along; fun days; good work: but you had to really take care of your self.

Great to see the old kit working for sure.. but gotta be a Boring old day sat in one of them scrapers.. why not just get couple of 40ton or 60ton dump trucks & couple of 40ton plus 360s..
@Venomous7343 жыл бұрын
The scrapers running the material out to grade is a big advantage.
@thewippit87173 жыл бұрын
@@Venomous734 - yeah but if you had 360s & dump trucks that would then free the d6 dozer up. as he wouldn’t be back & fourth pushing the scrapers up & down all day.. so the dozer would then be free to level out what the trucks are tipping off then.. swings & round abouts I suppose
@shaneneilson103 жыл бұрын
@@thewippit8717 sounds like a good idea bring in more equipment to do the same job but slower.
@shiftymuckers66273 жыл бұрын
Because then you’re using 4 machines, 4 man’s wages, 4 lots of diesel to move the same amount of dirt as the 1 man in the scraper can move.
@garycurtis8913 жыл бұрын
Cos you can shift more muck with 2 scrapers and a dozer than you can with2 dumper trucks and a digger its proven

Loss of fuel and lots of noise. Useless, stupid machinary. Don't like scrapers at all. Why do these always need a bulldozer to move their ass? 😂
