how the fk do they lift it off the truck though..... that loader is already maxed out with the forks rolled back on the front wheels. once he rolls the forks forward there is no way to lift that block again using a loader.

​@@D_and_L You know it! my Dad had huge link chains for our model "A" John Deere tractor on the farm. And those were a killer to mount on the tires. And those were no where the size of the tires on that beast. Probably enough steel in that set of chains to make several John Deere "A"s!

The bottom bucket pins are sealed and filled with oil. If pins and collets are installed properly you can drain the pins and refill with new oil,making pins last much longer. When I worked for a hard rock mining company,I plumbed up the 50 weight oil hose and pumped new oil in top of pin on one side ,while old oil drained out the bottom on opposite side. Mostly these pins are ignored until they fail. Track support and carrier rollers ,same thing.

The more counterweight the more wear to the center pins. We added more counterweight to an 980g against the recommendations of Cat. The center pins failed soon after. It had to be line bored and repined. The job required a bigger loader so we got a 988.

​​@@billypotter3831You'll generally max out the hydraulics before you tear out center pins. Somebody was skipping greasing them or wasn't watching the bushings. I ran a 988B just like this in a log yard unloading truckloads of logs and decking sorted logs in the yard. It was equipped with their "forestry package" of counterweights. It would pick a 62,000Lb load off from a truck. That was lifting it to max height and backing away. Most loads were maxed out right near that 61-62,000Lbs. Some had to have some off the top to get them off the truck. It ran pretty much maxed out all day. Seldom were your rear tires firmly planted. They only replaced the center bushings on that machine once in 7 years, and never replaced the pins!
