Both are fine machines, and I love the sound of the RD6. I do, however, regret to point out a small correction. While it is true that 850 rpm is the {governed} maximum speed of the RD6's engine, maximum torque is achieved at only 600 rpm. Squatch253 did an excellent KZbin on that very topic. As Squatch says, when you hear that engine really start cacklin', you know it's really working. Watch that vid, it's worth your time.

Thank you for correcting me NJC. I don't pretend to be a Caterpillar expert. This was information that I sourced but it turns out that wasn't 100%. I have corrected the text.

@@Agrifotodotnl I want to make sure you know that I was not in any way shooting arrows. Squatch253 turned me into an RD6 enthusiast, and I just wanted to pass on a bit of what he taught me. He is a real Caterpillar expert, and I hope you can find a few moments to check out his channel.

Very interesting! I recently acquired a D6-9U with the forestry package and i'm loving it. Are those wooden blocks bolted to the RD-6?

They are indeed. This was an original feature when it was now to increase the flotation capacity on soft soils.
