I could understand the autonomous in dangerous areas like constant toxic environments but this is just going to put people of work

The working environment in a quarry or mine is exactly suitable for autonomous hauling equipment. It’s dirty, dangerous and drudgery work, day in and day out. It’s always highly regimented without other equipment moving around going elsewhere like what can be found on open highways. No doubt about it, such autonomous vehicles are a huge blessing for mining.

Love this stuff....I repair the rims n wheels for a few fmg sites and other mining companies haul trucks/loaders/underground equipment over here in Western Australia...crazy to see these big trucks rolling around with no drivers.

i see the semi automation (remote control) coming to smaller machines for civil engineering. This means a safer better working enviroment for machine operators. well done guys.

Being a heavy equipment operator my whole life this is absolutely crazy I knew the day would come I would love to have caterpillar invite me to see some of their new technology that's one thing caterpillar does the best they put so much technology and testing into their equipment when you buy a cat it's the last thing you have to buy

I wont be impressed until I see a fully automated excavator, working with an automated dump truck. Scrapers, dozers, loaders, and graders could be next.

@CozmoNz
@CozmoNz 5 жыл бұрын
There are electric drive haul trucks - but theyre diesel over electric (795 Cats, 830 / 930 E Komatsu) - Pure electric is just not powerful enough yet, without a VERY large cable running behind it. Electric drive has alot more torque, and are usually better for long haul ramps - theyre one of the most reliable haul trucks available.

@@memovilmx6239 called recycle: www.pv-magazine.com/2019/03/25/innovation-boosts-lithium-ion-battery-recycling-rate-to-over-80/ Ok to be politically against something, but to think humans won’t progress, won’t find a solution? Wouldn’t bet on it.

Do the trucks have a routine for backing up to a loader to get a residual buildup scraped out of the truck bed (where the payloads go)? This situation reportedly can get precarious during the dumping procedure due to sticky heavy material that refuses to slide down off the truck. It stays stuck 'cemented' to the front of the bed until heavy enough to tip the truck sideways during a future dumping of more material.

I love when people say, there is no way machines will replace people. Still think AI is still several decades away. The future sucks.
@aleksandersuur9475
@aleksandersuur9475 5 жыл бұрын
Machines will surely keep replacing jobs as they have done for centuries already, but is it the same thing as replacing people? No, it isn't, there will always remain an infinite amount of work that still needs to be done, ergo infinite amount of people will still be needed. As long as we want more things, we'll have a need for people to do work and provide them. And it will never matter how much machines are already doing because machines don't get payed, only humans do, so only humans contribute to price of things.

Yes, unemployment is always a good thing. Societies become unstable when income distribution becomes unbalanced. Of course China could become tired of paying for this ore and just come take it by force. The future? Interesting indeed. And not in a good way.

All fine until it breaks down, which with all the pollution stuff on them, it won’t be long. Other than the haul trucks, most of the jobs will still require humans. Someone has to tell them where to go. They aren’t going to figure it out themselves.

No, it just takes GPS and AI. In 10 years all of these machines will be fully autonomous, and only the HD mechanics will be needed. These machines were meant to replace men with picks and small rail carts. If you can’t adapt, you won’t survive. I’m sure that these operators wouldn’t have any problem getting an apprenticeship as an HD mechanic. It takes a group of like 30 people to commission a new machine.

Shame on IBM: They are putting typists out of job. No longer a computers fan. Shame on Netflix: They are putting videoclub employees out of job. No longer an streaming fan. Shame on Aircraft companies: They are putting Navigators and Flight Engineeers out of work. No longer an airplane fan. Shame on AMF: They are putting Bowling Alley Pinsetters out of job. No longer fan of bowling. Shame on AT&T: The ayre putting switchboard operators out of job. No longer fan of phone calling. Shame on Kodak: They are putting Daguerrotypists out of work. No longer a fan of photography (Kodak went south because didn't adapt to digital BTW, I think that was karma for all the unemployeed daguerrotypists.) Economy evolves, needings evolve. And workforce also evolves. Probably most of all blue collard jobs will be replaced by automation. And new technical employees will be required in other areas.
