On the Nueces River, we would catfish with lard we would render from pig fat. The water was so merky we would use the scent to attract them. We would cut the lard which was pretty much soap at that point, into cubes to bait the hooks. You are bringing back good memories.

Bro, I HATED catfish for years until I let go of my ego and kept a couple of smaller ones. Actually, the same size as those shown in the video. The taste is completely different. Now I love them. Being in Ohio, catfish are caught easily, so anytime I feel like frying up a few, I head to the river down the street and go to work. They hit my lures at the damn too when I'm White Bass and Walleye/Saugeye fishing.
