It's sad to see now that it's an empty lot.

This kind of building ages badly and there is no one to support them, they are abandoned and deteriorate. They are no longer useful, it is often necessary to destroy them. All things come to an end

You are correct!

Absolutely NOT TRUE and a massive assumption on your part. Look it up, many, many…MANY churches have been and are being converted into living spaces. I had an apartment in an old converted church…and even paid extra for the apartment with the two tall stained glass windows. So, you were saying?

Thank you Mother Church for practicing good stewardship and conservation as you allowed EVERY part of this church to be demolished and sent into a landfill. It looks like nothing was repurposed or recycled. Hell, even the hanging light fixtures and the organ were trashed. Pathetic!

The organ was removed by the Catholic Archdiocese after they sold the church. The entire church was stripped bare, all the railings, benches, organ, altars were removed by the Catholic Church. The only thing the new owners purchased and received was an empty building.

*Sad that so little of the furniture found new homes prior to demolition* - the pews apparently suffered the same fate as the balance of this former sanctuary's dry-rotted and fungus-ridden structure.

The Catholics stripped the church bare when they sold it. The small church congregation that purchased the property could not afford to maintain it. The slate on the roof began falling onto 9th Street and the city declared it a nuisance and tore it down. It cost a million to demolish it, so now another vacant lot with a million dollar lien against it in a neighborhood where no one wants to spend a lot money building anything. Further, it is sad that everything goes in the landfill when some of it could be used by someone in need. Thank you for your comment.

@@jimblue39 I just posted the same sentiment. As a Roman Catholic, it makes my blood boil to see such dismissive stewardship by a Diocese. It should be their mission to repurpose - everything, even if the process takes time. As you mentioned, it isn’t like they were on a time table for a new project to come onto that property. I find this so Un-Catholic.
