Cathedral Ranges Wells Cave Track A beautiful but challenging rock climbing near Melbourne

A grade 5 climbing track to the summit of the Sugarloaf Saddle ,challenging but beautiful loop starting off and finishing at Cooks Mill Campground. We started off early to avoid being exposed to the strong 40km winds in the afternoon. We started off on Tweed Spur Road, then at Messmate Track to warm up before moving on to the cliffs. Going through the cave was good fun but very difficult with bigger packs. A small group wth some more prepared than others getting away from Melbourne to enjoy the nature among the cathedral Ranges.

This is stunning ! Just because our mountains sit low , it doesn’t mean they are easy to climb . In fact people overseas mistakenly think that we don’t have real mountains .Well done guys !

Thank you kindly , yes you are right one does not need to have high mountains to get decent exercise and sometimes get into trouble , we do have more than a few places of interest in Victoria , thank you 🙏

Many thanks , definetely recommend it as a semi rock climb , it’s quite unique I think , I would not do it on a windy day and also alone , it’s not too far from Melbourne so that helps , overall a great day trip to the country thanks again 😊
