Wish we still had this group. Awesome singers. George Younce and Glen Payne are singing in heaven now.

I realized watching this group of Cathedrals, singing one of my favorite songs of theirs, that all five are in the Southern Gospel Music Hall of Fame. Danny Funderburk, Mark Trammel, Glen Payne, George Younce, and Gerald Wolfe are so deserving for what they have done for gospel music!!!!!

By FAR, the best makeup of The Cathedrals in their long history. Loved Gerald on piano and Danny as Tenor. Best Tenor they ever had. Arguably the best in Gospel Music

The Kingsmen had their eye on Danny once & wanted him. Danny turn them down because he was happy with where he was with The Singing Americans. The Kingsmen thought they had Danny at their doorstep. Jim & Eldridge criticized him when he turn them down. Then the Cathedrals called. He was talked into making the move so he went. Brought us the best lineup years of the Cathedrals.

The Catgedral Quartet was the best group of guys!!!! There's no question in my Mind that God put them guys together to sing the Gospel of Jesus Christ for many years!! Me and my son still get to see Danny and Mark, what a blessing it is to be able to hear them singing and Then Talk to them at the end of the singing. They are down-to-earth guys and MY WHOLE FAMILY LOVE THE CATHEDRAL QUARTET MUSIC. MY 6 YEAR OKD GIRL LOVES THE MUSIC SO MUCH THAT SHE KNOWS THE WORDS TO THE SONGS "" SOMEBODY TOUCHED ME""" AND ""THE MASTER BUILDER """!!! EVEN THOUGH I'VE ONLY BEEN LISTENING TO THEM SINCE NOVEMBER 2021, WHAT A BLESSING THERE MUSIC HAS BEEN ON MY LIFE!!! IF IT WASNT FOR THE CATHEDRAL QUARTET MUSIC I WOULDNT BE THE MAN I AM TODAY!!! THANKS TO THE LORD JESUS CHRIST FOR THESE GUY!!!!!

I miss those guys, started listening them in High School, I'm proud of Ernie Hasse and Signature Sound, Legacy Five, Greater Vision, Mark Trammell Trio and Quartet. It's all good and helps keep it alive that they are still singing and traveling, touring the country and world, But I've really missed George and Glen, and Roger too. Thank all of you men for sharing the Gospel through song, may the Cathedrals music live forever, couldn't made it through my High School Years without Southern Gospel.

This is the first song George sang when he recovered fully from his heart attack. Glen was doubtful if he could do the solo, but he did! It drove Glen to tears.

Danny Funderburk is one of the best to ever walk. In his prime he had more power than any other Cathedral tenor. Way more than Talley or Haase. Maybe Bobby Clark could touch him but the rest must sit in reverence to that awesome voice.
@KLTrainz10 жыл бұрын
Funderburk may have had more power than the rest, but I definitely feel in my opinion that Haase has the most 'tolerable' sound of all the tenors. Tally sounded very child like and George used to call Funderburk a little pipsqueek for a reason lol. His voice is a little harsh and chirpy sounding, powerful nonetheless, but I do feel Ernie Haase has the most well balanced voice of all the tenors.
@TheBfuson03848 жыл бұрын
Haase was never tolerable for me, Danny was the man. Why don't you listen to For What Earthy Reason & Poet's Song before you call his voice too harsh.

I felt personally when it came to Danny versus Ernie. Danny had his signature songs but nobody could sing Oh What A Savior like Ernie. Ernie was the best to come alone on that song since Rosie from The Statesmen Quartet. Ernie had some big shoes to fill but I believe he found his own style he didn't try to copy Danny that continued the success of The Cathedrals in my opinion.
@mikemiller43343 жыл бұрын
I agree that Ernie developed his own style and was a wonderful replacement of Danny. But I would say if you've could've heard Danny sing Oh what a Savior, in his prime, your opinion might different. But , as far as I know, he never did so we'll never know.

The only plan of salvation for a person to be saved is " Acts 2:38 " Jesus Gave the Apostle Peter "The only Keys to the kingdom of Heaven, Matthew 16:18-19 Then Peter Preached Acts 2:38 on the day of Pentecost, and all of the Apostles and Mary the Mother of Jesus even received the Gift of the Holy Ghost in the upper room and then 5000 thousand were added that day (ACTS 2:38 Then Peter said unto them Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ,for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the Gift of the Holy Ghost. Acts 2:39 For this is unto you and your children and all that are afar off even as many as the Lord our God shall call. And Peter was sent to the first Gentile to receive the Holy Ghost and be baptized in Jesus name, opening up the door for all gentiles" Acts Chapter 10" then the apostle Paul received direct Revelation from Jesus WHOM Paul discovered was the Mighty God and father of all and he said they preached only 1 salvation message Ephesians 4:5 ONE LORD ONE FAITH ONE BAPTISM. THEIR IS A GREAT BOOK ON Amazon that goes into more detail its called the KEYS TO THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN , WRITTEN BY A.TRUTH Lord Bless you ( don't miss the greatest gift you can ever receive on the face of this earth "the only plan of Salvation that Jesus ever authorized through the Apostles ACTS 2:38" www.amazon.com/Bible-Study-Keys-Kingdom-Heaven/dp/1521008264/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1537676216&sr=1-1&keywords=Keys+to+the+kingdom+of+Heaven%2C+A.+TRUTH

Amen brother! It's sad to think that the man who wrote this song and most of the people who've sang it over the years, have no idea of the true plan of salvation!
@FalconJudah2 жыл бұрын
The first part of your comment is totally wrong and invalid, hence, I didn't bother to read it at all. Jesus never gave Peter the "keys to heaven/salvation, what a great fallacy and doctrine the Roman Catholic church fabricated and has led to the deception of millions of people.

George is not wrong Bout Mark Trammill. MARK IS, And has been, BOSS dawg of several stellar quartets. His bass work reminds me of Peter Cetera of Chicago... it is very Melodic!!! Mark also plays for the song, and can sing his face off! I met them in Runnelstown T the South Mississippi Music Hall. Mark is a humble sort. Great talent!!!! My ear is more tuned to Roger than Gerald, but Gerald's vocal on Champiom of Love is off the chain!
