Ok, so far this has been a hair tricky one since I'm a newbie, but when you were doing the first changed color into the fan I was was coming up with 6 stitches going in the front way and it didn't look right... Then you ripped it out and went through the rear which made mine come out the RIGHT way! Definitely a difference! So ....so far - Thank you! I hope I can hang in there! I adore this sun-burst like flower stitch! 😍

I personally appreciate that you took the time to make a tutorial. Yes, you reading the patternwas a little distracting because we assume you know the pattern. However as you said there are multiple variations of this pattern.Using youtube we are able to backup or go forward at any time which allows playing the portion we need instead of entire video again. My only concern with this is you do not end up with a straight edge. It seems like there should be something done in the last stitch at the end of the rows...before turning...to make a better appearance of the finished project. Like at the end of the last row on your example should be a sc in the top of the ch3 to make a straight edge. Just makes a better overall finish if you are putting the work and money into an Afghan. I also agree working in the back loop of the stitches improves the look of the finished project. Thank you again for your tutorial :)

Hi Maggie, I have to ask you, I have never seen anyone do the "bottom" of the wheel like you are doing, When I crochet the d/c together, I yarn over, pick up the loop and go thru 2,and not go thru another loop as what your doing, you are in effect extending your d/c. Also when you are doing your bottom half of the wheel you are only doing 6 d'c, it should be 7 d/c together because at the top you are doing 7 double crochets. You shouldn't be skipping that bottom s/c. Do you get what I mean?.
@kaywilson95638 жыл бұрын
kskc1234 You are correct on both counts. double crochect together decreases are made wrong. & there should be 7 spokes on the bottom wheel.

Totally agree with Manya. It's so difficult to write down the patter whilst you work it, and many of us aren't anyway near as fast as you which makes it impossible to keep up that way. I've looked at several catherine wheel videos and have the same problem with those too. I love the look of this stitch and all Iwant is the basic pattern so I can do it too. Whats the point of making video tutorials if people who watch them can't get the basic pattern?

You say chain 20, but yet if we follow you exactly it falls short...could you fix this so that others do not get confused?
@MaggiesCrochet10 жыл бұрын
Hi 1991hoosier, the correct chain count for the sample is 20. You may notice that, when you make the shell, it crowds the next chain so it might be difficult for you to see it when you're skipping 2 chains.

Hello, I sent you an email about the Catherine's wheel pattern that I purchased from your website and have not heard back from you. The pattern says to use 3 strands as one, but this video only uses one strand. Also, in the pattern that I purchased, in Row 1 it says to chain 56 sc in 2nd chain from hook, etc, etc. It does not mention anywhere how many ch you make to start. (58?) How many chains do I need to actually start the afghan? I am looking to make a baby blanket, and since the example in this video says that you get 3 wheels with 20 ch's, I was thinking I would start this with 100 or 120 ch's, so 50 something doesn't make sense to me. I hope that I do not come across as rude here, but I would like to get started on this blanket and it does not mention in the pattern how many chains to start with. Thank you.
@MaggiesCrochet10 жыл бұрын
Sorry you haven't heard back from us yet. Which email did you send it to? The best email for this question would be patternhelp@maggiescrochet.com. We only used one strand of yarn in this video to make it easier to see - using the triple strand and the size Q hook makes the circles that much bigger, so yes, it's 56 chains to start, sc in the 2nd chain from the hook, then follow the rest of the pattern. This pattern makes an afghan that's about 41" across. Hope this helps!

You could try using Google Chrome. I don't particularly like it myself, but for youtube videos it has an extremely useful feature, an option (at the lower right corner, where the little wheel is) to make the video go slower, faster, as you wish.

Warning for people finding this video. The person doing the tutorial changes methods three times between part 1 and part 2. So if you are making a blanket or something choose one style or another. It isn't worth ripping everything out and starting over again to have a consistent pattern.

yes i think that it seems that the person teaching the stitch seems like she is learning as she is teaching and it is very confusing because we are not reading the instructions in front of us, So it would have been better to teach the stitch after you have mastered it yourself, i am disappointed with the way this is being demonstrated but, i mean the person is nice enough to try to be teaching it to the public for free, so thank you for your attempt.

that was for a different stitch count pattern - 9 doubles instead of the 7 in this pattern - for the catherine wheel stitch - this video seems to imply a multiply of 6 plus 2 - just guessing here - definitely try a sample swatch to check pattern stitch count
