Don't remember if I already knew this cover existed or not, two of my favorite bands together, magical.

Rob D's voice has a certain manic urgency that fits this tune perfectly. Good lads, and great music!

14 years later but as a huge Husker Du fan IJWTS this is a fantastic cover.

Fortunate to have seen both bands in all their glory. This version is stellar. A VERY honorable tribute. Play LOUD. Play it at your sister.

Holy crap how have I never heard this before today? I love Husker Du, and I love CW... “two great tastes that taste great together”👍🏼

agreed, i never could work out why catherine wheel werent up there with ride, sugar and boo radleys etal., as there production was pretty sharp as was there 'black metallic' record from memory. see, drugs dont totally wreck yr memory. i played their stuff on radio and indi clubs whenever possible..also from memory!hehe.

They were better than all those bands imo

@@honeypower That probably explains why they remain our little secret to this day.

@@deejaaywalker2314 Yeah :) and agree with OP "Black Metallic" has to be one of best songs ever written (not just in the shoegaze genre). Criminally under recognised but such is the case with so many bands like this.
@deejaaywalker23144 жыл бұрын
@@honeypower Absolutely- well said. I recall the tension of the LA Rodney King race riots during the summer that Black Metallic was in rotation on MTV and other music outlets such as Much Music here in Canada. The band themselves were well aware that it had potential to gain unrelated/unwanted attention as racism was never an underlying motivation with Catherine Wheel. Idiocy was never part of their philosophy.

Not too bad. They did the Huskers justice. Green Day covered it too. They both did a good job.

No cover of this song includes the dope guitar lick in the verse riff. Therefore there isn't a good cover of this song that I've found yet.
