measure 26 is my absolute favorite when we (violins) just get to sit and watch the amazing cellists and violists play their beautiful part for 24 measures.

OMG! This takes me back to my high school days! I just heard it on a classical demand channel ands it stated the title "The Red Poppy." I said to myself it has another name. Looking through You Tube, I saw "The Red Poppy..The Russian Sailors Dance!!" That's it..The Russian Sailors Dance. Always loved this song.

I love watching this conductor. He's so fun. Check out the leg kick and emphatic wave of his baton at 1:07. That's awesome. Why didn't any of the conductors I played for ever conduct like this? Ok, I admit, I was in a pretty much backwater town when I first learned to play the Cornet from Mr. LaRue. I'm surprised I can still remember his name and what he looked like. In Junior High, I played for Mr. Robert Barnum, great great grandson of P.T. Barnum, the circus man. He has to have been the best teacher of any of my classes let alone my music classes. He taught me French Horn and also Violin so I played horn in the band and violin in the orchestra. Later he got me an audition with a "semi-pro" wind orchestra in Ventura where I played either 3rd Horn or sometimes there was a 4th French Horn part and I played that. One of the pieces I heard for the first time ever was when we played it, Pictures At An Exhibition by Mussorgsky. I have always loved classical music and that is still one of my favorites 55 years later. But the piece in this video I heard in my parents living room on a big old fashioned (at the time it was top of the line) Magnavox Console stereo. The Russian Sailor Dance is one of, if not THE favorite pieces I ever heard. This is an awesome presentation of it.

I must have watched this piece done by a dozen different conductors/orchestras since I found this one a moth ago and IMHO this is the very best and I still get a bit teary eyed when I listen to it thinking about listening to it as a teenager with my family.

Да, но слова этой песенки ужасно неприличные - во многих ее версиях, в оригинале этой матросской песенки начала 20 века....

Back again. I just posted a copy of the link to this page in a comment I made to the author of a fan fiction web site when he had his character mention as "old music" the song "dream On". I about laughed myself silly at that comment. Also, I just notice the hop he gives at 3:47 into the piece. What a cool conductor. So into the music.

It would be nice if you learned to use words that were not so rude and crude. You enjoy music with class, you should use language to match. I'm sure you can do it considering your appreciation of this sophisticated music.

The parents are teaching their kid to love classical music. Without newbies any culture will die out never to be heard from again. Yes it can be distracting a bit but just be glad they love classical music to take their kid to the concert.

Why do i see this comment in every single russian sailors dance video. Its either every single orchestra is just that bad, or people just think that way.

@@C8T3SS I agree it works with slow part style, but the ending is supposed to be intense, the composer specifically wrote it to be a big moment
