Maybe it's the Clorox wipes taking off paint or color from your island? Just a thought. My husband is a carpenter and only allows a very small amount of dish soap and water to clean wood. If you or the previous owners had been using the Clorox wipes for a long time it probably ruined the stain. ITS OK THOUGH AT LEAST IT LOOKS GREAT!

Your home is lovely and well suited to you and your son. As you continue to imprint upon it, you will find it reflects you more and more. You are doing a wonderful job and although I am a new viewer (and much older) I am enjoying you and all you bring to your channel! I do regret the difficult spot you find yourself in ,currently, yet I clearly see your strength and you visibly growing right before my eyes! I hate knowing you are hurting so, but I ‘m a pretty good gauge of character, and the ability to regroup and overcome, and YOU, my dear, have the goods. You are more than a conqueror! Go and take your land! Live long, prosper and be happy... both you and your sweet son. By the way... I’m thinking it is either the stain (or possibly paint) being removed from the island as you are using the Clorox wipes... or just generally cleaning your island... not “dirt” continuing to come off onto your wipe. You may need to top coat your island with some poly-acrylic or another type of top coat suited to what is currently on your island. You might want to seek advice from a quality paint store or even Lowes or Home Depot. But then you are renting... 🥴. Perhaps the last renter found himself with a bit of a beat up island and added some additional stain or such to cover it’s wear in hopes of recouping his deposit... and in his doing, he failed to include a top coat? Quite possible! All the best to you and your son as you navigate these unknown and undesired waters. You can do this... successfully!

Maybe it is not dirt but the stain on the wood.your place looks so homey and cozy. You did a good job.and yes it is very important to clean when you move in. Some people are not the cleanest. Also you never know about hidden germs even uf a place looks clean

When I went though my divorce, I moved from a 3 bedroom/2 Bath house into a 2 bedroom/1 bath apartment. It was so nice to start over and have a place that was my own. I had piece of mine and a new beginning. You will be fine , you are a strong young lady! Your place is adorable

I swear by 50/50 vinegar and water for my stainless steel. I promise you it works, no streaks or smudges with cloth or paper towel 💜

When I moved into my apartment, I was so disgusted by all the hidden places that never get cleaned. Like where the kitchen sink meets the granite... it was so dirty! Or the little cracks between the stove and the counter... omg so gross! Oh also check the vent thing under your microwave! Mine was so dirty and I had to soak it and scrub it 🤮

That’s wood stain lifting from the island, not dirt. It looks like the top coat is compromised from cleaning products. You can always top coat it yourself again.

You should always do a deep clean whenever you move into a new place. You won't feel comfortable and at home until everything has met your standards of clean.

If you can get Original Stardrops in the US that’s the only cleaner you’ll need for shower doors, appliances, mirrors, windows, surfaces etc. Hot water Startdrops & an old clean cotton t shirt to buff .... amazing 🇬🇧

I have one with Lysol disinfecting spray in it currently and another with my thieves cleaner. For the furniture I use the thieves cleaner because it’s gentle but for everything else right now, Lysol all the way!

You are not crazy in disinfecting. Your health, both physical and mental, is more important. Placing a humidifier is a suggestion too. Move from various rooms when you are not in there.

And for the Clorox wipe I bet you anything it is taking the stain in the finish off of the island I actually had a friend that disinfected every surface in her house so much that she took all the finish off of her frames and her table because of that reason Clorox wipes are extremely harsh

I do agree, we are finishing up renos and I wouldn’t trade my white appliances, I seriously hate smudges! Drives me crazy! Our new microwave that came from ikea with our new cupboards has a stainless steel around it and it drives me crazy, I carry a cloth with me everywheres! Hubby says I’m obsessed! Lol I know I am!
