'Optimus is in baby stage'... i haven't seen a baby catch a ball, walk down a slippery hill, slip, and catch themselves, lift heavy objects, etc. Optimus is closer than these people understand. If they choose to teleoperate the robots in factories, they'll be doing real work before the end of next year, before FSD is solved for sure.

I think humans are far more advanced because we were built over millennia by Darwin!! So Optimus / human comparisons are not really helpful. But certainly, Optimus will be useful and of net positive cost benefit within 2 years. Robots will have electronic intelligence. I suspect it will take further major innovations to match the combination of electrical and chemical intelligence of humans. We are far more subtle than we credit ourselves. That said, I think we are set for major steps forward in the next 3 to 5 years.

Technically correct however the training computer costs $10B and is growing. Only Tesla is building an ai cluster that big. That massive investment will keep all but the top 20 largest companies in the world out of ai unless there is a huge breakthrough.

It is not correct to say that China skipped the step of building out bank branches. There are bank branches everywhere in China. But China was better at implementing a user friendly way to pay for things and exchanging money between individuals with just a click or two WITHOUT middlemen skimming percentage points from every transaction.

States' rights is a big issue even for the GOP. While there is some commonality to federal motor carrier regulations I believe that authority is based on interstate commerce activities . While FSD for trucks/semis would fit under Motor Carrier Regulations, it's a stretch for that to cover licensing of FSD nationally vs state by state.

Beware ...FSD 13 is a great driving assist feature but will never achieve level 5 autonomy with just cameras. V13 fails in high incident light, camera occlusion, poorly or incorrect line variations, signage complexity, extreme lighting variations, night time rain, fog or heavy snow conditions etc. In other words there will still be court litigation deaths and injuries until the last 10% of the edge cases are accomplished and all government transportation entities agree on new rules. It would seem that if the Palantir software sits on top of whatever the companies or governments native software is, then The Palantir model could easily be disrupted and replaced by another company software which does exactly the same thing, without the company or government meeting to update its software whatsoever. Why do we need FSD! Why not just have Optimus be trained to be a robot driver. Optimus can drive any Tesla or any other non-Tesla vehicle. That way, Optimus can drive Ubers or Lyfts or Teslas to generate income for its owners when not doing personal house chores. Another idea is Optimus working with FSD. If supervised FSD requires person supervision, maybe Optimus can replace the human in the loop supervision. Optimus/FSD in conjunction can be the precursor to full unsupervised FSD.

Tesla needs to establish the number of miles between human accidents. Then double it as half of accidents are the other driver. Than beat this stat with fsd to justify fsd without remote intervention. Certainly if can be beaten X10 then fsd reg approval is a no brainier. However public have to accept that accidents may still happen and sign waiver to protect Tesla from law fare.
