I'd like to tell a brief story of why I'm a Catholic today. Growing up, my family weren't actually regular church-goers, or connected to any particular denomination, but from time to time, my mom took us to lots of various churches -- depending on where we happened to be living at the time. (we moved a lot) When I was 15, we moved to a rural area known as Irish Settlement, and not far from our farm was a small 150 year old Catholic church. I'd been inside lots of different churches by then, but I'd never stepped inside a Catholic church. So, one day, out of pure curiosity, I walked up the gravel road and went inside to explore that church just to see what it looked like. Since it was completely open at that time, I walked around every part of that little church, and knew for a fact that there was no one else there, but me. I was alone. However, I became completely aware that I was NOT alone there. I sensed there was a living Being there, and my attention was drawn to the "box" at the center of the Altar. Keep in mind, that Being I sensed was never inside any of the other churches I'd been in. But, I knew He was there -- right up front at the center. And, keep in mind that I knew NOTHING of the Tabernacle, or The Holy Eucharist. I knelt. Upon leaving, I found a Baltimore Catechism laying on a small table at the entrance. So, I stole it. Curiosity and thievery. That's why I'm a Catholic.

We worship Christ, Christ IS the Eucharist. "Then he took the bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them, saying, 'This is my body, which will be given for you; do this in memory of me.'" - Luke 22:19 Time for a question for YOU: What does the bible say to do in order to be forgiven of our sins??

Also, go read what the Church Fathers had to say about all of this. Remember, every Christian believed in the True Presence until the Protestants decided to ditch that, thinking they were more wise than 1500yrs of Christians before them. Martin Luther even believed in the True Presence. Every saint ever believed in it.

tim spangler John 6: 22 The Bread of Life Discourse.22* The next day, the crowd that remained across the sea saw that there had been only one boat there, and that Jesus had not gone along with his disciples in the boat, but only his disciples had left.23* Other boats came from Tiberias near the place where they had eaten the bread when the Lord gave thanks.24When the crowd saw that neither Jesus nor his disciples were there, they themselves got into boats and came to Capernaum looking for Jesus.25And when they found him across the sea they said to him, “Rabbi, when did you get here?”26Jesus answered them and said, “Amen, amen, I say to you, you are looking for me not because you saw signs but because you ate the loaves and were filled.27Do not work for food that perishes but for the food that endures for eternal life,* which the Son of Man will give you. For on him the Father, God, has set his seal.”l28So they said to him, “What can we do to accomplish the works of God?”29Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in the one he sent.”30So they said to him, “What sign can you do, that we may see and believe in you? What can you do?m31* Our ancestors ate manna in the desert, as it is written:n ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’” 32So Jesus said to them, “Amen, amen, I say to you, it was not Moses who gave the bread from heaven; my Father gives you the true bread from heaven.o33For the bread of God is that which comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” 34p So they said to him, “Sir, give us this bread always.”35* Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me will never hunger, and whoever believes in me will never thirst.q36But I told you that although you have seen [me], you do not believe.r37Everything that the Father gives me will come to me, and I will not reject anyone who comes to me,38because I came down from heaven not to do my own will but the will of the one who sent me.s39And this is the will of the one who sent me, that I should not lose anything of what he gave me, but that I should raise it [on] the last day.t40For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in him may have eternal life, and I shall raise him [on] the last day.”u 41The Jews murmured about him because he said, “I am the bread that came down from heaven,”42and they said, “Is this not Jesus, the son of Joseph? Do we not know his father and mother? Then how can he say, ‘I have come down from heaven’?”v43Jesus answered and said to them, “Stop murmuring* among yourselves.w44No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draw him, and I will raise him on the last day.45It is written in the prophets: ‘They shall all be taught by God.’ Everyone who listens to my Father and learns from him comes to me.x46Not that anyone has seen the Father except the one who is from God; he has seen the Father.y47Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever believes has eternal life.48I am the bread of life.49Your ancestors ate the manna in the desert, but they died;z50this is the bread that comes down from heaven so that one may eat it and not die.51I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world.”a 52The Jews quarreled among themselves, saying, “How can this man give us [his] flesh to eat?”53Jesus said to them, “Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you.54Whoever eats* my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day.55For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink.56Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him.57Just as the living Father sent me and I have life because of the Father, so also the one who feeds on me will have life because of me.b58This is the bread that came down from heaven. Unlike your ancestors who ate and still died, whoever eats this bread will live forever.”59These things he said while teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum. The Words of Eternal Life.*60Then many of his disciples who were listening said, “This saying is hard; who can accept it?”61Since Jesus knew that his disciples were murmuring about this, he said to them, “Does this shock you?62What if you were to see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before?*63It is the spirit that gives life, while the flesh* is of no avail. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and life.64But there are some of you who do not believe.” Jesus knew from the beginning the ones who would not believe and the one who would betray him.c65And he said, “For this reason I have told you that no one can come to me unless it is granted him by my Father.” 66As a result of this, many [of] his disciples returned to their former way of life and no longer accompanied him.67Jesus then said to the Twelve, “Do you also want to leave?”68Simon Peter answered him, “Master, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.69We have come to believe and are convinced that you are the Holy One of God.”d70Jesus answered them, “Did I not choose you twelve? Yet is not one of you a devil?”71He was referring to Judas, son of Simon the Iscariot; it was he who would betray him, one of the Twelve.e

Were just here to tell you the Truth. Becuz a lot of non- catholics converted into Catholics even Atheist converted into catholic, why are they converted? because of Gods Love that they were given a chance to enlighten their hearts by the Holy Spirit, thats called pentecost and I pray and hope that you too will be Enlightened by the Holy Spirit someday. In the Eucharist, God remembers and renews the convenant made in Christ's blood and body. The Eucharist is The Passover meal prescibed by Moses which included eating an unblemished Lamb. Jesus as Lamb of God (Revelation) is the Passover Lamb whose flesh and blood would be eaten in order to gain eternal life. So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I tell you, unless you eat the flesh and drink the blood of the Son of Man, you have no life in you. Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For My flesh is real food, and My blood is real drink.(John 6 : 53-55)

Steve Ray could be a good member of the Association of Catholic defenders or apologists of the Catholic church. He is equipped enough of dogmatic, historicity, or contemporary experience talks in the life of the church. Being a convert from protestant Baptist to Catholic church is also much of a help on his part to help the Catholic church. And to enlighten the protestants.

Jesus Castanares I agree... I am returning to Catholicism too and Steve Ray is helping me understand more of the meaning of our practices, the history and most why we hang on to our traditions that the Protestants could never understand because they hold on too much with their proof text basing most to the New Testament. I also recommend to search for Scott Hahn... For me, he is just a brilliant bible scholar and one thing I really like about him is his humility and the tone of his voice is so calming calling and persuading us for peace and not really of so much debate between Catholics and Protestants and even so, it can’t be avoided for a debate, Steve Hahn just delivers the truth tracing back the history of the early Christians which is rooted in the Old Testament which the latter will always have a hard time in accepting the truth. God bless us all.

You are what you eat. I love the Eucharist. Jesus born in a manger is in itself significant in the sense that He truly is the food that could satisfy out hunger. The trough in the manger that serves his little bed is where the food for the animals are placed. So for us it seems that from the beginning of time, that He wants us to recognise that he alone could satisfy our hunger and whenever we partake of his body and blood in communion, we also share in his divinity. It is true that we become what we eat not totally but getting there, hopefully.

A am a cradle Catholic and I have been invited to protestant churches a number of times by some friends who have left the Catholic Church. I feel that there is something missing in all of their preaching service and Sunday service. I feel empty inside because I am missing the consecration, the beautiful Catholic prayers and most of all there is no holy communion where we receive Jesus Christ physically and spiritually in the consecrated host. You are very right. There is no holy sacrifice of the mass in all the protestant churches. I feel their service is all about preaching and there is no holy sacrifice which we Catholics go to mass for. The consecration and holy communion is the climax of the holy sacrifice. I never went to their service anymore because their is a great emptiness in their churches. I decided to stay Catholic despite their invitation. Listening to you made me realize all the more why I should stay being Catholic. The Catholic Church is one , holy , catholic and apostolic, which all the protestant church denominations numbering 33.000 + can not be and will never be. I love being a Catholic. All my direct ancestors and my family have remained catholic all their lives.

For protestants saying that is a metaphor: no. It is not. The word Jesus used to refer to His Flesh being TRULY a food is "alethés", which means THE REAL THING, not a metaphor. In other passages Jesus uses the word "amén" which means metaphor, but not when He talks about His flesh. It is so simple, friends.

Day Flaubert John 6 53 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. 54 Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. 55 For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. I would be in agreement with you however Jesus explains what he means by the above verses , same chapter just a few verses later have a look . john 6 v 63 63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. @Sterling Crowne There were different churches under one umbrella. You can read in Acts 15, when there was confusion about circumcision, both Paul and Barnabas went back to Jerusalem to meet Peter to take decision. Paul could have decide on his own, since he was filled with the holy spirit; still he went back to discuss. So it was one church till Martin Luther started his own.

@Sterling Crowne Matthew 16 is not just a conversation; rather it was a decision making, which is followed by John 21. Today, which denomination of the church doesn't have a head? Even a simple prayer group has head, although they split in few months. Nothing wrong to have a Pope to guide the church, which was created by Jesus by Himself and His Church (Matthew 16:18-19).

@@walterromanoff2953 It's wrong to state that only an ordained priest could teach. For one, it's indicating that priest is something above human or at least without error while others are with faults. That's false as we know there are evil priest. Preferably, yes, it should be a priest preaching, as they are a man living as a sacrifice for Christ from their vocation to the practice of their celibacy. However, we also know that the formation that would make good and saintly priests does not exist, or at least is not present in most seminaries now. Therefore, it's not correct to deny someone's intelligence or credentials based solely off their vocations. Secondly, this video and my comment are very old, so I can't remember the substance of this video. What do you mean when you say "false teachings?"

John 6:51 John 6:53 John 6:58 I think you missed this or maybe just overlook it. Thrice does Jesus state plainly, despite which you overlook it and teach others to overlook it as well. This isn't the blood and flesh of calves, but the body and blood of God Himself which he gives to those who believe in Him. This is not just for you but for whoever who happens to read this.

@Sterling Crowne 2000 + years of the Eucharist and even Luther never denied Christ in the Eucharist and here you are reducing the Eucharist to a mere 'metaphor'. Do you claim to be bigger than any of these in matters of faith? John 6:55 "For my flesh is food indeed and my blood is drink indeed" Is this what you call a 'metaphor'? Jesus puts in plain words and you laugh it off calling it a 'metaphor' Because for the beliefs you hold at present, no other explanation would suffice for you. The Jews thought that the bread that filled their stomachs gave them life - true, but the manna fed only their bodies. This is where Jesus corrects them, in that his flesh and blood are food for the spirit of man. God is spirit and in the Eucharist He feeds men with Himself incarnate in His only Son, Jesus.
@jery2911
@jery2911 4 жыл бұрын
@Sterling Crowne Did Jesus tell you personally what he hates and what he loves? I guess not.... Whatever Jesus has said is in the Bible, so stick to it when you preach. On the road to Emmaus the two disciples did not recognise Jesus till he broke the bread with them. For they remembered that the Lord had asked that this be done in His memory. You may tell me as to who started all this rabble about the Eucharist not being true.

@Sterling Crowne And yes, I knew that Luther was a Catholic. But he didn't protest because of the Eucharist. All because your new car gets a dent on it, you don't just replace the whole car. But Luther chose to do just that and it cost him much.

@Sterling Crowne Jesus said believe in me, and what does he ask the Jews to believe in - His very words. And are not what I quoted Jesus' very words? The point is that, you skip these verses because it is undigestable just as it was to the Jews who left Jesus. Why does Jesus take such pains to tell them thrice that his flesh is food and his blood is drink? You overlook it and when I draw it into the discussion you caste it away and then you say that it's all Roman Catholic teaching... The popes didn't start all this...as you keep stating.

@bornagainsaint1. Jesus said in John 6:30 - 50 to eat His body and drink His blood to inherit eternal life and those who do will be risen up on the last day. You are now consuming mere wafer when you left the Catholic Church. No eternal life, no resurrection on the last day. St Paul taught on 1 Cor 11:29 that For those who eat and drink without discerning the body of Christ eat and drink judgment on themselves. If the Eucharist was mere wafer, saint and sinner can just eat it without any fear of punishment from God. Do not merely listen to Protestant propaganda. Go and find out the true reasons from reliable Catholic sources instead of merely listening to one sided biased Protestant views. Even in a court room, the judge has to listen to both plaintiff and defendant and give a fair hearing to both sides of the argument.

"Real Presence" or Holy Eucharist Defense 1. "Pascal lamb" In Exodus 12:3-14 GOD "forever" liturgically commands the PASSOVER, as a means of proper worship, which REQUIRED the "lamb" to be consumed for "Death to Passover". Jesus, the "Lamb of GOD" (John 1:29, 1 Corinthians 5:7, 1 Peter 1:19) transformed this "forever" GOD commanded PASSOVER Feast during the "Last Supper" in every synoptic Gospel account into the NEW COVENANT PASSOVER (Luke 22:19). Further, in CONTEXT of the PASSOVER (John 6:4) Jesus Christ's "Bread of LIFE" discourse REQUIRES us to "abide" in the "Lamb of GOD'S" BODY and BLOOD for "Death to Passover" (John 6:54-58). ***Protestants, Jesus states the consequences of not partaking of Him in John **6:53**.*** In John 6:60, everyone was disbelieving Jesus's "hard" teaching (John 6:54-58) about the Holy Eucharist. So, if you were Jesus how would you respond to people disbelieving you??? Wouldn't you want to provide some "proof" or "evidence" you mean what you say??? How does Jesus Christ respond to His disbelievers in John 6:60 and what "proof" will He provide per John 6:62??? 2. "Heavenly Manna" GOD provided "Spiritual Food and Drink" (1 Corinthians 10:1-4) to His old covenant people, so wouldn't Jesus Christ provide something for His NEW COVENANT chosen people??? Jesus Christ compares Himself to the old covenant "Heavenly Manna" in John 6:31-35. Jesus teaches the "Heavenly Manna" that came down "daily" will now actually be Him (John 6:51-58). In the "Our Father" prayer Jesus Christ is stating "give us THIS DAY OUR DAILY BREAD" referring to Himself as the "BREAD OF LIFE" (John 6:35, 48, 51). Acts 2:46. The Catholic Church has been "breaking bread (of LIFE) daily" of the NEW COVENANT PASSOVER (Luke 22:19) before the Book of Acts was even written in the mid 60's AD, all along since Jesus Christ's death in 33AD, and to this very day fulfilling Malachi 1:11 prophecy all across the world "daily"!!! 3. "HOW HE WAS MADE KNOWN TO THEM in the Breaking Bread" (Luke 24:35) In the Luke 24:13-35 "Road to Emmaus" scriptures there clearly is a "structure" being referrenced - being the NEW COVENANT PASSOVER or Catholic Mass. In Luke 24:27 there is an opening and interpreting of the Sacred Scriptures (Readings and Homily). Then, an explanation of how Jesus Christ fulfilled all the old covenant prophecies and covenant promises. Then, we have the "participation in" (1 Corinthians 10:16-17) of the NEW COVENANT PASSOVER "breaking of bread" where the "Lamb of GOD" Jesus Christ becomes "KNOWN" to us. Protestants what does Jesus Christ say to you refusing to "break bread" with Him in His ONE and ONLY "Kingdom of GOD" here on earth being the ONE HOLY CATHOLIC AND APOSTOLIC CHURCH per Luke 7:21-23??? Still saved??? 4. "Bread of the PRESENCE" Along with the Passover, GOD "forever" liturgically commands the "Bread of the PRESENCE" to be part of His proper worship in Leviticus 24:5-9. In the old Jewish Temple, the old "Heaven and Earth" of worship, a veil seperated two main worship rooms. In the outer room housed the "Bread of the PRESENCE" and it was separated by the veil from the inner room called the HOLY of HOLIES that no one but the High Priest could go. This HOLY of HOLIES is where Jews believed God's "real presence" remained. So, when Jesus Christ died the veil was "torn" (Matthew 27:51, Mark 15:38, Luke 23:45) that separated the HOLY of HOLIES and the "Bread of the PRESENCE" in the outer room, so there was no longer any barrier (liturgically speaking) between GOD'S presence and the "Bread of the PRESENCE". So, if the veil was "torn" allowing GOD'S presence in the Holy of Holies to flow to the "BREAD of the PRESENCE" in the outer room of worship, then what does the Holy Eucharist "Bread of the PRESENCE" truly become in the fulfilled NEW COVENANT FORM??? 5. "ONE BREAD ONE BODY" 1 Corinthians 10:16-17. If the "many" become "ONE BODY" through "participation in" the ONE SACRIFICE of the "Lamb of GOD" Jesus Christ in the NEW COVENANT PASSOVER, then how can the Holy Eucharist possibly be a mere symbol??? Truly, we can ONLY become ONE BODY (1 Corinthians 10:16-17, Ephesians 5:29-32), ONE FLOCK (John 10:16), ONE TEMPLE (1 Corinthians 3:17), ONE CHURCH (Ephesians 4:4-6), ONE BRIDE (2 Corinthians 11:2) through the "ONE" Jesus Christ (John 6:54-58) the "Lamb of God" (John 1:29, 1 Corinthians 5:7, 1 Peter 1:19) in the "Marriage Supper of the Lamb" (Revelation 19:9) NEW COVENANT PASSOVER (Luke 22:19). 6. "EAT AND DRINK JUDGMENT UPON OURSELVES" 1 Corinthians 11:27-29. If "partaking unworthily" is "eating and drinking JUDGMENT upon ourselves", then how in the world rationally and logically can the Holy Eucharist merely and simply be a symbol as Protestants purport??? 7. Partaking of "Divinity" (John 6:55-56, 2 Peter 1:4, Catechism #460) to become a true Son or Daughter of GOD. In the Garden of Eden man was created in the "image" and "likeness" of GOD. Through Adam and Eve's disobedience it caused us to lose our "likeness" to GOD (original sin). For GOD's "likeness" and goodness can never mix with sin. (John 3:6, Romans Chapter 5) Jesus Christ is the NEW ADAM OF OBEDIENCE. In God's beautiful salvation plan He takes a "do not partake" disobedience and removal of the "TREE OF LIFE" (Genesis 3:23) from sinful Adam and Eve and transforms it to telling us "to partake" of the "TREE OF LIFE" (John 6:54-58, Revelation 22:2, 14) through the NEW ADAM OF OBEDIENCE (Romans 5:12-21) Jesus Christ the "Lamb of God". Catholics receive His "divinity" in the Holy Eucharist obtaining our "likeness" back if we partake "worthily" (1 Corinthians 11:27-29) and thereby we truly become "divine" Sons and Daughters of GOD. We "unite" with the "Son" Jesus Christ the NEW ADAM (Romans 5:12-21). As a result, we become a part of GOD'S NEW CREATION (2 Corinthians 5:17, Galatians 6:15, Ephesians 1:10, Colossians 1:15-17, 20) here on earth. The "TREE OF LIFE" hangs above every Catholic Church altar. 8. "Thanksgiving" or Jewish Todah In this Jewish Messianic prophecy feast the "lamb" sacrifice had to occur at the same time the "bread and wine" was consecrated. Just as the Jews believed they were "participating in" the original and timeless first PASSOVER when celebrating their old covenant "forever" GOD commanded Passover (Exodus 12:14), so do Catholics believe we are "participating in" the ONE SACRIFICE of Jesus Christ during the consecration of the bread and wine (1 Corinthians 10:16-17) in the NEW COVENANT PASSOVER. The Greek "Eucharistia" or English meaning "Thanksgiving" being the One Holy "Eucharist" is the source, summit, and ultimate high point of worship in the NEW COVENANT. 9. "Marriage Supper of the Lamb" (Revelation 19:9). Every CATHOLIC during the NEW COVENANT PASSOVER "Mass" enters the aisle and approaches the "Bridegroom" Jesus Christ the "Lamb of God" who hangs above every single altar. We get to see the "Bridegroom" who emptied Himself out on the cross for His ONE and ONLY "BRIDE" the ONE HOLY CATHOLIC AND APOSTOLIC CHURCH. The "right and just" response of each and every Catholic is to give all of ourselves back to Him in the "Marriage Supper of the Lamb". Historical support per Early Church Father beliefs on the "Real Presence" Holy Eucharist: www.therealpresence.org/eucharst/father/a5.html Be "ONE WITH CHRIST" by accepting His ONE and ONLY BODY in the ONE HOLY CATHOLIC AND APOSTOLIC CHURCH.

Sterling Crowne, lets give you all of GOD'S worship commands. ***GOD wants to be worshipped HIS WAY no longer in an old covenant Jewish way and definately not in 35,000 and growing Protestant "man made" Golden Calf ways.*** BIBLICAL “FOREVER” COMMANDS OF WORSHIP Does your Church meet the “forever” historical link all the way back to Judaism when Jesus Christ died on the cross, and from that point on until this very day celebrate the fulfillment of these “forever” liturgical worship commands of GOD in their “perfected” NEW COVENANT FORM? 1. Passover Feast (Exodus 12:14, 24) Jesus during the “Last Supper” transformed the “forever” GOD commanded Passover by replacing the lamb with Himself in all the Gospel accounts. (Jesus is described as the “Lamb of GOD” in John 1:29, 1 Peter 1:19, and in 1 Corinthians 5:7 “Christ, our Passover Lamb, has been sacrificed for us”) In the OT, everyone celebrating the Passover Feast was commanded by GOD to eat the meat of the lamb for death to “Passover”. Could a Hebrew or later practicing Jew only “symbolically” eat the lamb and obey GOD??? Jesus was being liturgically consistent with the original “forever” OT Passover commands to “eat the meat of the lamb” culminating in His “hard” teaching in John 6:53-54: “Truly, Truly, I say to you, UNLESS you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, YOU DO NOT HAVE LIFE IN YOU. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood HAS ETERNAL LIFE”. NEWPASSOVER(CCC#611,13391340) www.salvationhistory.com/studies/lesson/the_paschal_mystery_how_jesus_celebrated_fulfilled_the_passover 2. Day of Atonement (Leviticus 16:30-33) CC has the altar and gives out the atoning blood provided by the “eternal” High Priest Jesus fulfilling Leviticus 17:11 “For the LIFE OF THE FLESH IS IN THE BLOOD, and I HAVE GIVEN IT FOR YOU UPON THE ALTAR TO MAKE ATONEMENT FOR YOUR SOULS; for it is THE BLOOD THAT MAKES ATONEMENT, by REASON OF THE LIFE” (CCC 616,623) www.salvationhistory.com/studies/lesson/jesus_and_the_day_of_atonement 3. Tabernacle Feast (Leviticus 23:41-42) CC has the Tabernacle and fulfills this feast within the Mass. (CCC #1183,1090) www.salvationhistory.com/studies/lesson/tabernacles_old_testament_feast_and_eucharistic_fulfillment 4. Unleavened Bread Feast (Exodus 12:17) CC has “7 days” a week unleavened bread (CCC#1334) www.salvationhistory.com/studies/lesson/the_mystery_of_the_feast_of_unleavened_bread 5. Sanctuary Lamp (Exodus 27:20-21) CC has this burning constantly before the Tabernacle. 6. Tabernacle Candles (Leviticus 24:2-4) CC has special candles placed next to the Tabernacle as commanded (CCC #1154, 1189) 7. Tabernacle Bread of the Presence (Leviticus 24:5-9, Exodus 25:30) Jesus Christ becomes the true fulfilled “Bread of the Presence” during the Mass consecration. (CCC #1378) 8. Leviticus Priesthood (Exodus 29:7-9, Exodus 40:15, 1 Chronicles 23:13, *Numbers 25:12-13, *Jeremiah 33:14-22, *Isaiah 66:21, Malachi 2:4-7, Malachi 3:3) Jesus fulfills the Levi Covenant promise by ordaining and reconciling the 12 apostles (tribes) for priesthood in the Upper Room to “do this in remembrance of me” (CCC #611, 1337). Proof? John 13:1-20 Jesus prior to His passion washes and “purifies” the Apostles to prepare them for priestly altar work (fulfilling Malachi 3:3 and the “forever” priest washing in Exodus 30:21). Like OT “Forever” Feasts, a Leviticus form of priesthood has to preside at the altar of sacrifice, be washed, and ultimately has to abstain or be celibate to even touch the “Bread of the Presence” (CCC # 1541-2) Jesus is the “pure offering” presented by the priesthood through “daily” Mass across the world fulfilling Malachi 1:11 prophesy. 9. Priest Washing (Exodus 30:21) CC Priests complete a washing before consecration (CCC #1337) 10. Priestly Share (Numbers 18:22-23) CC Priests are the first partakers of the Holy Eucharist, and receive offerings to the Church (CCC #2043) 11. Animal Sacrifice (Leviticus 7:36-38; Deuteronomy 12:26-28, Exodus 29:42) Jesus is the described fulfillment “Lamb of GOD” (John 1:29 and 1 Corinthians 5:7) (CCC #608, 613) 12. Grain Offering (Leviticus 6:9-11; 23:13-14) CC has bread and wine offering from parishioners brought up to the priests and the altar. (CCC #1334, 1350) 13. Incense Burning (Exodus 30:8) CC Mass celebrate with incense on various occasions. (CCC #1154) 14. Sabbath - Mark 2:28, Matthew 12:8, Luke 6:5 “For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath”. The day our Risen Lord showed us what to do in Luke 24:13-35 and “how He was made known to them in the breaking of the bread”. The risen Jesus obeys His Heavenly Father's "perpetual" celebration command being on "the day after Sabbath" per Leviticus 23:11-14, Pentecost 15-21, and verse 39 Tabernacle Feast being the “First day” and “Eighth Day” which is one in the same SUNDAY or “First Day of the Week”. CC follows our Risen Lord’s lead with “breaking of bread” or celebrating the “forever” NEW COVENANT PASSOVER on Sundays. CC even fulfills Jesus’s “Our Father” prayer “give us this day our daily bread” (Jesus compared Himself to OT manna in John 6:31-35) by providing the NEW COVENANT PASSOVER “daily”. The Hebrew word “olam” or English translations “forever, everlasting, or perpetual” was clearly understood by the Jewish people as they still are “forever” obeying GOD’s liturgical commands and celebrating a form of the original Passover, Unleavened Bread, Day of Atonement, and Tabernacle Feasts to this very day. JESUS CHRIST IS THE NEW ADAM (Romans 5:12-21) making us part of the NEW CREATION ( 2 CORINTHIANS 5:17, GALATIANS 6:15) to enter into the NEW HEAVEN AND NEW EARTH of worship (Isaiah 66:18-23).NEW ADAM + NEW CREATION + NEW HEAVEN AND NEW EARTH = NEW SABBATH (Pentecost is "forever" GOD commanded on what "day" in Leviticus 23:15 with a day of rest in verse 21??? Hebrews 4:7-9??? "HE AGAIN SETS A CERTAIN DAY ” AND “ GOD WOULD NOT SPEAK LATER OF ANOTHER DAY " ). So, if the Church was "born" on Pentecost through the "same day" the NEW ADAM was resurrected on, then what "day" would we get "reborn" (John 3:5) on to "LIVE in the "Spirit of the law" (Romans 8:2) being LOVE (John 13:34) of the NEW COVENANT???

Sterling Crowne, Leviticus 24:5-9. What do you believe the "forever" GOD liturgically commanded "Bread of the Presence" becomes in the NEW COVENANT??? Hint: John 6, Matthew 28:20.

Brother Sterling you are quite wrong in taking this assumption. The body and blood of Christ is the very essence of the new covenant and has no relationship with Leviticus 17:10 Presenting the contradiction is ever the problem of taking a verse in its literal sense out of context and make a comparison that is not legitimate. That is not to say that the blood is not real. It is real but in a sacramental sense. Your argument is at the same level as those, which talk about anthropophagi, don’t you think so? It is just the firm tradition of what was established by the Apostles (Council of Jerusalem, Acts 15, 29). They told the gentile Christians to "abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from BLOOD, from the meat of strangled animals and from sexual immorality. You will do well to avoid these things". So they continued observing Lv. I seem to bolster your objection, don’t I? At the same time they celebrated the Eucharist. It never crossed their mind that the cup of His blood could be related with the Leviticus commandments. Why? Are you familiar with Jewish Pessah? Christ instituted the Eucharist during the celebration of the Passover. The unleavened "bread of hurry" that the presiding person breaks and distributes is a SIGN that Israel had been freed from slavery. The last cup, the cup of solemn blessing with praise words that we pronounce in the anaphora is the SIGN that Israel has reached the Promised Land. The covenant-promise has been fulfilled. The sign is en lieu of the much superior reality. If the idea of eating a man’s flesh would appear repugnant to a Jewish audience, the idea of drinking blood would be even more so, because blood as food was forbidden under the Law (cf. Gn 9:4; Dt 12:16). "Flesh and blood" is the common OT expression for human life. More than likely the separate mention of the partaking of these two elements in the Eucharist stresses the fact that the whole living Christ is received (Barrett) rather than repeats (see v. 51) the connection of the Eucharist with the death of Christ (Bernard). 54-55. The repetitions contained in these verses have the effect of underlining the reality of the Christ-life that is received in the Eucharist. Because the possession of Christ is the earnest of eternal life in the resurrection (v. 40), the Eucharist is an eschatological sacrament. 56-57.

So true. Since he is not an officiant (bishop or priest) saying Mass, no layman should be wearing a hat in a Catholic Church. It's disrespectful to God, and that is what is paramount.

I'll only add one comment here. Could all the protestants who specifically come here to troll please go somewhere else. I, as a Catholic, don't troll on protestant sites. What's to be gained? Maybe all comments should be deleted. To my protestant friends, you already deem yourselves as justified and saved (as a good protestant friend of mine has said, bless her soul), so please let us Catholics fight for our redemption until our final hour, when I pray that the holy mother will intercede for me, a repentant sinner. Thank you

@ContendingEarnestly 4 жыл бұрын
First, there is a difference between trolling and making a valid argument that is the basis for dialogue right? We are called to expose false teaching; Eph 5:11. Also, your last line to us is a cry for help. Why in the world would we leave you alone to 'fight for your redemption until the final hour?' You will pray to mary who can't hear you for your soul and when you die you'll lift up your eyes in hell. Hows that something we would let someone do? "Hey, i'm drowning but don't jump in to save me. I'll wait until my last breath THEN cry out for help to a person who can't pull me from the water.' That'll do it right? And we don't fight for our redemption. Jesus did that. We receive what Jesus paid for; Mark 10:45 For the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and give His life a ransom for many. He paid the ransom, not you.

Epifanio Viar He is not in a Mass or any form of worship and probably in a conference room not a church giving a talk. We take off the hat during worship otherwise men would never wear hats because we are always in the presence of God. But not in the same degree every where as during worship.

["What is this!"] for they knew not what it was. And Moses said to them: This is the bread, which the Lord hath given you to eat. Sir, I made a mistake of drinking the grape juice and saltine crackers in a Christian church because I was hungry...so there, we are even with the hat in the altar...I just wanted to tell u my experience, means a friend of mine tried to convert me..and it never happened...even my sister...but u made the right choice...I didn't really feel anything .but with the Holy Eucharist I did feel it...and it is true for the true devotees , always a Catholic..I passed the test...with my sister and my friend's intention of converting me...it never happened..one thing though, what the Catholic faith wants us to respect and should not criticize other faith which our priests and our faith always teaches us to do: humility...
