Love this bible. A great bible that accompanies the Great Adventure Bible Study. Truly wished all would take this course, especially those of us who are cradle Catholics that did not study the Bible. This study is a gift. Thank you Jeff.

I'm looking for the ultimate Bible that is not too "loose" and doesn't stray too far from the original text. I want something accurate, yet easy to follow. In regards to the physical book; Are the edge of the pages gilded? Is the leather real and sewn to be durable? Is this approved by the catholic church? 73 Books? Thanks!
@mcdermop14 жыл бұрын
Buyer beware: So, the modernist interpretation of Joshua 10:12-14 seems to be starkly in contrast to Sts. Augustine, Ambrose and John Chrysostom. But hey, they are only Doctors of the Church and the theology of the 20 and 22st centuries has been so rock solid. 🤔

@tl78765 жыл бұрын
Walter, I purchased the Great Adventure Bible and its ok but it is just that. I would not recommend it if you already have a Catholic Bible. Having already read through my bible a few times this one has a different read to me and I could not get used to it. What I would recommend is the Bible Timeline of Salvation history if you really want to study and learn Scripture. The DVD study course is amazing and Jeff Cavins is an amazing instructor. Take that course and if you feel that this bible would be a good addition then go for it. Just my honest opinion. I leave you peace. TL

Just go to a book shop and look for yourself. I saw it yesterday in a catholic conference here in UK and I loved it but I wanted to watch reviews before spending my money. I have my own Bible in Spanish but I wanted one for my boys 14 and 9 in English and this seems to be the one that can make them understand the Bible better. It is not cheap but worth it, I think. This is going to be this year Chrismas present for them.
@gintonic36254 жыл бұрын
Did you get this Bible? I'm hesitant too... I checked it in Amazon, it says the author Jeff Cavins is an evangelist, author, and biblical scholar. I'm confused now. I'm trying to get a Catholic Bible and I'm wondering if an evangelical Protestant minister wrote this, then does this Bible has all the books, what version is this?

@@gintonic3625 Hi g&t, I am a convert of 21 years. I’ve had my share of Bibles. I had a New American Catholic Bible which I did not like and learned that the translation was less than desirable. So I began searching. I looked at what was out there. I did not like the page layout of the Ignatius Bible. I don’t know who thought that looked good. Then I saw Sarah Christmeyer on A Journey Home on EWTN and she talked about the Great Adventure Bible. I checked it out on Ascension and Amazon and ordered it from Ascension. I absolutely love it. I love it. I remember some of what I learned in my OT college classes when I read the information. I want to buy one for everyone I love. I’d like to sign up for the class but it’s too expensive. I’d rather buy the Bible for people who need one and learn on my own. Get it. And I don’t know Jeff Cavins from Adam. But I think he’s a pretty good guy. Hope this helps 😁.

Thank you for deleting my post regarding the unjust pricing of this Bible in Australia. God bless you.
@nuriacb78805 жыл бұрын
It is true, it is expensive, that was my first thought but I prefer to spend this money in a Bible than in a nintendo switch for my kids or a dinner out for example. I am getting one for Christmas for my boys. I need to find the way that they connect with the Bible. I saw this Bible in a book shop and I really liked it.
@civrn3683 жыл бұрын
It's almost $100 here in Canada, I hope the price will go down eventually.
@echoesofthepast25773 жыл бұрын
@@civrn368 The price of The Great Adventure Bible fluctuates greatly here in Australia. I am in no way saying anything against the Bible itself, as I’ve heard from very close friends, who have been able to purchase the Bible, that it’s a wonderful, beautiful, very well designed and structured, high quality Bible, but I don’t agree with the pricing. Only a few weeks ago the price of the English version, of this Bible, at the Australian Amazon store was $350. Then the Bible became unavailable for a brief amount of time. Today they’re advertising it at $109. Whereas the Spanish version was and still is advertised at $97. At other local book stores the The Catholic Great Adventure Bible was advertised $125 (but this store has been out of stock, for months already). Other stores advertised at $143 and $149.95 respectively (those two latter prices are still the same today). I don’t understand why there’s such differences in pricing between the English and Spanish versions of the Bible and in a way I feel that I’m penalized for being an English speaker. On American online stores the Bible has been advertised at US$39.95 and upwards (but nowhere near as expensive as in Australia ) which if you convert into Australian Dollars is $54.67. Comparing that price for an English language Bible and the price we’re asked to pay, highlights the massive difference even more. I do understand that postal charges etc apply and need to be taken into account, in regard to the price, but clearly the difference still shouldn’t be as drastic as it actually is. A few people I know, who like me have been patiently waiting for the The Catholic Great Adventure Bible to reduce in price, in order to purchase it once it comes down, are getting tired of waiting. One by one they’re slowly buying the St Ignatius RSV Catholic Bible, which is much less the price of the other bible and also of other high priced Bibles. It’s a shame that Bible producing companies these days etc.have to make differences like that, considering that “THE WORD” was given to us for free, for absolutely nothing; those through whom it came and those who wrote it down asked nothing for it either; the Apostles who spread the Gospel also did it for no remuneration; but these days the Holy Word given to us from God for nothing, is being sold for profit, to create a revenue. Yes, the disciples were asked by Christ to spread the Gospel before he ascended into Heaven, but he never added that they should do it for profit and to amass wealth from it. It’s there to set people on the right path, feed their souls, guide the, in their lives and instruct us how to follow in the footsteps of Christ and avoid sin. In God’s eyes we’re all equal, there’s no difference between affluent Catholics and those who are doing it tough, but in Bible editions this differences is very much emphasized in the pricing and there’s more differences made according to inflated prices or reduced prices according to the languages people speak. Protestants also make very beautiful, high quality Bibles (I’m Catholic and love my faith and church and I refuse to read a Protestant Bible in case someone comes up with the idea to tell me to buy one of those) which are sold at a fraction of the price of beautiful, high quality Catholic Bibles. In fact these Protestant Bible producing companies release new and absolutely stunning Bibles every year, some are collections etc..but at a much lesser price than Catholic Bibles. It’s strange how others can sell high quality Bibles at a prices, which pretty much everyone can afford and we aren’t able to do that for Catholics. This also applies to other Catholic books like the missal, breviary, books of hours etc.. Catholics are deprived of purchasing those books and fully immerse themselves into their faith, because our religious books are way too overpriced and costly. The day ps are rapidly approaching when only the wealthy will be able to practice our religion and those of other social classes won’t have any other choice but get their religion from the Protestants... this is where this injustice is leading to. Our Catholic church should make it a goal or a mission, to be more out there with different Catholic Bibles, making it more accessible and affordable for everyone. I’m not the only person who feels this way, there are many Catholics who feel this way and Christ himself must feel offended to see this happening with his Good News, his Word.
