Here we created volume from surface, we could have used thick surface and and then trim off the edges. Is there any specific reason behind Creating with sweep and multisection surface and then close it? Thanks

thats when the radius wont allow a specified length of extension, because of the filleted face

you cannot always thicken or offset a surface.
