The placenta usually is born 10-15 minutes after baby, midwifes always checks that the placenta isn’t missing pieces and that the umbilical cord is normal. If the placenta won’t come out in 1 hour they might need to take it out in an operating room. Lots of love from midwife student, so happy for your little family and wish you all the best ❤️

I really liked this story. not sugarcoated or treating birth as a 'who did it better' thing, so chill and funny at times. a lot of details and no swooning, just being down-to-earth and positive. and I must say I adore the traces of Finnish accent you have, like saying five words on the same breath while your intonation goes down and so on. I can't help it, I'm just a sucker for it :D

I’m in hospital now 34 weeks + 4 days, had contractions 10-15 mins apart for first 48 hours, rushed to hospital in an ambulance from maternity unit, been in hospital and straight away contractions been 3-5 mins apart and such excruciating pain and all they done so far is give me meds and injections to stop my contractions so I’m laying here the last 12 hours and have mo idea what’s going on. Still having lots of blood and googled it and it says it’s the cervix thinning out. Yesterday afternoon was last time I checked for dilation and I was told I went from 3cm to 4cm in a matter of 2 hours, and thinning fast. No one checked since and I’m concerned and frustrated.

Interesting to hear birth story. Mine was very similar in Turku at TYKS almost 43 years ago. My daughter was born 7 weeks early and my experience was quite different from yours. I was already hospitalized with pre-eclampsia for 2 weeks and begged to go home. My husband was a Greek merchant marine captain and I think that affected the attitude towards me. Over 40 years ago treatment of foreiners was different since there were not so many of them. I went to early labor and of course, had increased blood pressure. They pushed meds via my IV and left me alone in a dark room. Even when I said I needed to push they did not come right away. And when they came the rush started. I had dilated to 10 cm from the moment I went in to my daughter being born in one hour and a few minutes. My placenta came out also rapidly after. I was taken to another room where there was another mother who was just dozing off. I had still very strong contractions and was bleeding but nobody came and told me only via the call button that I was fine. They kept massaging my stomach and told me to do the same. 2 weeks later they found out I had a myoma in my uterus and that is what caused the pain, bleeding, and contractions. They did D&C and biopsy and I got a horrible infection after. I was in the bed in the hospital for 2 months with a severe infection caused by the D&C. Finally, they got my ESR and WBC's down enough to open my stomach. and not to get sepsis that still then was very deadly due to antibiotics not being what they are at the present. With my second pregnancy, I was living in Athens, traveled to Finland to pick up more things and see my mother before I advanced further in my pregnancy. During a regular check-up I was told I had started to dilate already. So I was told not to fly back to Greece at the condition. Also, my sister was in a dental school and her husband finishing medical school and the resident gynecologist from his class was taking care of me. That made somewhat difference but some nurses still were treating me differently. I was 2 months in TYKS again before C-section. Later on, we moved to the USA, Texas, where I went to college to become an RN. During the training, I was also on the delivery room to observe. It was 7 years after my daughter's birth, 1.5 years after my son's birth and I could see the difference. The patients were treated as customers and if any nurse would have had the behavior I experienced in Finland they would have been fired. I am retired now after working 25 years as a critical care RN specializing in cardiac care and cardiothoracic surgery. I have been the in L$D many times just monitoring cardiac risk mothers due to my experience in cardiology. I believe the behavior in Finland has changed during the years and Finland has been famous for good maternal/child care. The premie girl went in the USA to one of the best universities, got the largest yearly scholarships the university gives that is to go to France for a year. She applied to Paris Sciences Po and graduated from there in the same class with French president Emmanuel Macron. She works in the largest law firm in the world as the communications director, speaks 6 languages and is learning on the side the 7th. I believe her birth still was better in Finland than it would have been in Greece, but the attitude towards me was substandard knowing how I had to treat patients just 7 years later in Texas. Hopefully, the women who have a child with a foreigner, especially from the Mediterranean and Latin countries, get now better treatment than I received.

My delivery was a long one. My water started seeping out 3 days before the baby was born. I went to the hospital with mild contractions. At the hospotal my contractions got so much worse. I was given antibiotics through an iv. I had really irregular and super painful contractions for 2 days and nights, like I was literally screaming every time, they wouldn't give me any pain medication during that time because I wasn't dilating and they were afraid that my contractions would stop. I had to go outside the hospital for walks and was probably scaring people with my screams. They even tried a foley bulb induction since they said it was gentler than giving me oxytocin. The foley bulb was horrible! Finally I was put on oxytocin and I was progressing. After 2 days of pain I got my epidural and got some sleep, not long after that I was ready to start pushing. The birth itself took an hour of pushing but was not painful at all, my baby apparently would pull her head back so they had to cut me and use a vacuum extractor to turn her head into the proper position. I was black and blue with all kinds of wiring and stuff all over me but I finally got my baby. My blood pressure was super low after all that so I fainted when they tried to walk me to the shower. After all this I have to say I would still do it all over again, it was so worth it.

@CatCadwallader5 жыл бұрын
Tack för din fina kommentar! Det här är en av orsakerna till att jag ville dela med mig av min historia för filmer o tv serier ger en så annorlunda och för det mesta felaktig bild av förlossningar 😅

Gave birth about two weeks ago..😑 everything was so surreal.. I just woke up at midnight, and felt some regular contractions about every two minutes. It's not so painful, but I just had a feeling that maybe that's it... So we arrived at Jorvi hospital at around 1.30 am, and I was already 4cm dilated. During the checkup, my water was broken and started bleeding... And 3.05, after 7 minutes pushing, our little chubby girl is here. I didn't use any pain relief, except for a little bit laughing gas (which I think is quite useless as you said), because I don't really feel any unbearable pain throughout the whole process... well...... Don't even have time to shoot some videos for memory... Midwife said women like me should give birth to a dozen of kids😂😂

We were bottle feeding him breast milk for the first few weeks and I was breastfeeding as an 'extra'. Then after a few weeks we were told that I could start to only breastfeed him. The hospital should tell you how much milk to give, we worked our way up to about 65 ml (not sure what that is in oz) per feed before I started to fully breastfeed him. Gongrats and good luck with your baby 😍😍

Thank you for sharing with us!!!! I can't wait to see more of your little Leo, you worked hard for him!! I can't imagine not being able to be with him for SIX HOURS!!! I had my baby too, a little boy named Elliott, on 10/15/19!!! My water broke on my due date and I was in labor for 31 hours! I wasn't progressing after 16 hours, needed pitocin and an epidural (I was hoping to go natural but was SO relieved when I finally got the epidural). I had a hemorrhage too! But thankfully since he was full term, they let me keep him with me. And so funny, they were passing my placenta around the room too! I had a fibroid that implanted in it, apparently none of the 6 or so people in the room had seen that before. My placenta came right out too but I retained a little so I was REALLY glad for the epidural when they called an OBGYN in to fish around and try to find the other piece! So glad you all are doing well!!!!

I was pregnant at the same time and had my baby on October 13th. The birth took almost 19 hours and the pushing was quite stressful since the baby's heart rate got low at every contraction. Everything was fine at the end, though. I still gave the birth 9/10. It's amazing what woman's body is capable of! And yeah, the pushing was the most surreal feeling ever.

My labour was also really fast, but it came in the last possible day. We were already 2 weeks after the date, so we had everything prepared and hospital knew we will be coming that day ;) Anyway, I was woken up by my breaking waters and the moment we reached hospital I was already 5cm wide. I got epidural, which gave me such relief, that I fell asleep :D Then I was pushing for literally 7 minutes (midwife was telling me to slow down haha) and baby came out together with placenta prietty much, so I had same "bloody" aftermatch as you did. I remember I went to take shower, midwife left to another soon-to-be-mom and this huge amount of blood comes out from me on the floor and I am like "well... I gotta clean this up somehow first then" :D I cleaned this up more or less and then I hear this PLOP and more liver-looking blood on the floor. "HUSBAND! CALL THE MIDWIFE" And he is on the rocking chair with our newborn and he looks stuck and can't get out of it :D So I clean this mess again, while he is trying to stand up, wash myself more or less and I put this after birth pad with pants and it instantly went heavy from the blood and started to flow on my legs. Fortunately at this moment midwife came and she gave me new pad and said, that it's ok, it happens sometimes. So we went to out family room and husband went to repark the car, another midwife came to check sth with baby, she is asking me sth and I feel like I am going to pass out soon, so I say "Let me sit for a moment, I feel bit dizzy, but probably it's normal". Next thing I remember was 5 midwifes jumping around me and plugging those drip bags to my veins, pushing my belly super hard to empty it from gathered blood and super scared look on my husband face. That was scary moment :P

Aww amazing so glad you had a chilled an relaxed labour an all is continuing to go well, I gave birth to my rainbow baby this July she arrived on her due date apparently only 4% are born on that date. We did a hypnobirthing course throughout my pregnancy and it was amazing my other half decorated the hospital labour suite in led candles an string lights we put pictures up on the walls etc and he done all the massaging techniques he was taught it was such a special time I like you was not nervous I felt very prepared focusing on what my body was doing I stayed at home until my contention app was literally screaming to go to hospital, got examined told I was 4cm and to be admitted after 2 1/2 hours I was only 5cm so they broke my waters and within 2 hours I’d jumped from 5cm to 9 anyway after 8 1/2 hour active labour she was born just by gas an air I found that to be amazing lol I meditated whilst having it next time round a would be hopeful to have a home birth with a birthing pool ❤️ it’s just so worth it isn’t it xx

I had some difficulties with my delivery, it took 1,5 hours to push, in the last 15 minutes I had one midwife pushing on my bump (babys butt) and another down there doing her magic and finally he was born. They were allready prepared to use the suction cap but they did not have to. Sahre Actually you might find labor easier than others. You already know what contractions feel like.

All my births were super fast. My last one was from start to finish 2hours and push time was 4mins. 😀

My story is for finish, I dont know how To write it english 🙄 Klo. 00.00 alkoi supistukset heti 5min. Välein ja niin kovana että pyörryin.. Klo. 02 ampulanssilla sairaalaan (55km) sairaalassa n. Klo 02.30 ja olin 8cm auki.. Suoraa synnytys saliin. Klo. 6.00 synty iso tyttö rv 38. Koko synnytys kesti 6 tuntia, ponnistus vaihe 15min ja istukka 6min ulos 😂😂😂 vauhdikasta ja saamarin kivuliasta.. Pyörryin 4kertaa supistusten takia.. 🤭 Mikäli haluu tietää lisää niin kerron toki. Tässä lyhyt versio ✌️🥰🥰
