I agree she is the best. As much as I loved Betty Buckley and the other Grisabellas I adore Elain Paige. What is really funny, is she was orginally the understudy for the part but the original actress got injured and was unable to do it.

I'm being pedantic here, but she wasn't the understudy. Judi Dench injured her Achilles Tendon in rehearsals and was beginning to recover when she fell off the stage whilst in plaster. Since Elaine wasn't in a show at that point, they took her out for a meal to persuade her to take on the role. She agreed because she loved the song.
