Interesting how they changed the words of the climax of Memory. If my Russian is not too terrible, Grizabella sings “God” instead of “Touch me.” Then, “it’s so easy to leave me” stays the same, followed by “I ask for your mercy” or something like that instead of “alone in the memory.” I actually like this version very much, especially Jemima and Grizabella. Some names don’t work well, like Rumpleteazer and Mungojerrie, and it takes some getting used to the lack of “cle” at the end if Jellicle, but overall I’d say it’s a pretty great version!

Your translation is almost perfect! Tho i can't help but correct you a bit: it would be more accurate to translate ласка as caress, not mercy, so basically she's asking to be touched in that line too, just using different words

Which part seems to be shorter? That production was licensed by Really Useful Group and RUG always strictly controls all aspects, including music and choreography.

@@alexseyboyarinov6913 Well, the entire musical is only an hour long, normally it's considerably over 2 hours (the 1998 film was pretty much exactly 2 hours, and that had some bits cut out of several songs, and Growltiger's last stand was cut entirely). I'll skip through it and see if there are any completely cut out here.

@@alexseyboyarinov6913 yeah most of the songs were cut from this. the rum tum tugger, jellicle songs for jellicle cats, the naming of cats, the old gumbie cat, bustopher jones, the battle of the pekes and the pollicles, mungojerry and rumpleteazer. I might have missed some, but all of these at least were cut completely. I could conceive that perhaps this was some kind of publicity thing where they only did the numbers they thought to be best for the press before opening the theatre to the public, but the title does say "full show."
