CATS REACT TO ROBOT VACUUM - Smoothie Is Shook

So I filmed the reaction of Smoothie & Milkshake when they met Roomba, the robot vacuum cleaner, for the very first time. Small spoiler: I don't think we'll see them riding it anytime soon. Fortunately in the meantime Smoothie's a bit less stressed about it, so I assume it'll take a bit of time before she's completely used to is.
Smoothie & Milkshake are both British Longhair cats. Respectively golden shaded & silver shaded. Smoothie's 3 years old and Milkshake's just 1 year old.

I have seen some cats use it as a free lift, even saw a video of one on a Roomba that kept slapping a curious dog (looked like a beagle, Saint brenard mix) that was trying to investigate via smell

My cat (a persian half-breed) had a very similar reaction as Smoothie. Eventually he got used to it, but not once did he touch it voluntarily while it was powered on.

Smoothie is concerned but she can't hold back her curiosity! Milkshake is very brave. I don't have one, I have 3 cats, I think 2 would be fine with it and one would be scared initially. I wish I had one of those! I need it! I have to vacuum every day!

It's the noise level on the vacuum. The one I have is much quieter. Lots of cats get real spooked with loud noises

and certain noises. one of mine will get on his perch and growl at the garbage truck but if the street sweeper comes by then he runs and hides. one of mine hates the sound of kids. cats are such interesting souls.

My friend hates to admit this to her friends, but this was her favorite Christmas present. kzbin.infoUgkx8ISPQRRAfpAaX4msGjyodObTBnlj4T5g While I used to do the floors, since she hated doing them, this has changed things in our house. In one easy to use motion it sucks, dampens, cleans and dries the floor with a super clean and walk on a minute later surface. Load up the tank with solution and water to make it ready is about all you have to do. The big tank setting will do our kitchen, dinning room, hallway and entry with no problems.We do a light vacuum or sweep first to get rid of the big stuff, but if you floor isn't that bad, you wouldn't have too. We have kids, dog, neighbor kids, and winter crud, so our floors are usually that bad. It will handle anything, but just gets dirty faster and more hair is why we might get the big stuff. We can do everything from pulling it out to sucking to cleaned up in about 30 minutes, so it makes it quick and easy. Biggest thing is the floors are pretty much dry after you move the vacuum over them. No tracking, waiting, or foot prints everywhere. Cleaning is easy with sink rinse and let it air out a bit to dry. 5 minutes to cleanup and set to dry.I give credit to my sister, as she is a professional clean freak and this is her baby with about 1,000 sft of floor that has to be cleaned. She LOVES this and that is why we now have one. Great buy!

I am not so sure my cat would be quite so calm about it. Yes they are scared, but they aren't scrambling to run away nor are they hissing. Curiosity mixed with fear. My new vacuum actually has a quieter setting, and while I appreciate it my kitty still finds somewhere to hide, one time she even climbed her cat tree and had her front legs wrapped around it like she was hugging it. She stayed like that for at least ten minutes.

Well, Milkshake is braver than the poor terrified Smoothie. The magnificent Max Arthur, the world-famous Rumba-riding shark outfit sporting cat from Texas, seems to own a less noisy version. #poorshkaredshmoothie ... and yet, she's very curious. Such a girlie-girl. It's like taking a pair of little kids to a horror movie. 😹 My late darling Moxley Oliver tnought it was the devil until I broke it .In a matter of minutes I found him sitting on top of the 'dead beast' looking proud as punch.

Aw, I feel badly for laughing b/c they are obviously terrified but curious of it. Smoothie's little face...I wanted to comfort her and tell her it was okay. Milkshake's face was funny too, but he wasn't quite scared until it tried to run into him. We don't have a Roomba but our vacuum is very scary for our kitties. As soon as it goes on, they run like there is a wildfire in the house.
