This is a Silver Fox, sometimes called a Russian or Siberian Fox. There are Geneticists in Russia that have been breeding these foxes to be domesticated.

I've also heard in the past that foxes are not really capable of being domesticated; they will remain wild no matter how humans handle them. But maybe, as you suggest, there's a breeding strategy to gradually produce a domesticated fox. If you have more info on this breeding program, I'd be interested.

Sorry that was wrong. The fox is eating whole foods and way past the stage of using using a mother's nipple, it doesn't need to "feed" off some random mother dog that has her own puppies to feed. Who knows if the fox has a virus or disease that's gonna get passed on now

Used to have an old dog that came with the farm nurse, the baby kittens ( wild cats would go to our barn to have the litter and then leave them) so the dog would bring them down to the porch and nurse them. 1 of the most amazing things I've ever seen with animals was that dog holding the runt in her mouth while a line of kittens followed her down.

Foxes are very easy to domesticate, Especially when they are young. My next door neighbor runs a Fox rescue for orphaned and injuried foxes and they are easily domesticated, he has kept a few of the orphans because they make it easier for him to help others, they are alot like dogs, they have their own bed, they use the dog door to go outside to use the bathroom.

He’s so timy he still needs mother’s milk. Hence the soft stuff and cow’s milk. Cow’s milk probably gave the little critter a very gassy tummy. We’ve processed it. Now another animal’s milk directly from the breast works with his digestive system, gives him some natural feelings of not being completely lost; all adaptable and relatable 🙂. So, yes it took awhile to nail it into place - the needs and how to meet them. All those interactive relationships tell me he has more knowledge than we necessarily give him credit. How much y’wanna bet he has a VERY close relationship with any and all vets and shelters in the area 😄.

Kindness? For starving the little fox no food or water but some cat snack four days later, still nothing (food & water bowl EMPTY a week later & not getting it ANY medical care?
