I love your designs, your attention to detail and safety, your brilliant common sense, your knowledge and understanding of the materials you're using, their strengths and limitations, and your teaching style. You have a nice voice and I love your accent and manner of speech. You break things down and make them simple to understand even though it's apparent that a lot of thought and skill went into the whole thing. You also have an adorable little girl!

@@SalmonCreekLiving I agree, quite a few folks build it and you can tear down how it will break. I am doing 20 raised beds and going to cattle panels between the beds. Keep my veggies growing up, nw Oklahoma has wind, last year I did 3 panels and grew my cucumbers, tomatoes and squash up but squash bugs killed everything off early so doing grow beds with 2 sided tape on the outsides so the bugs get stuck??

Yes, snakes can hide under there. I live in NY, so we don't have poisonous snakes, but I hate every one. I've been known to go shoot them when they are sunning themselves on the manure pile, and once, I had a pitchfork in my hand spreading mulch out in the garden when one slithered out, and I shot the pitchfork at it and one tine actually speared it. Lucky shot!! I plan on trellising much more this year. I'm always dragging cattle panels around for various uses. You do an excellent job filming and those are the sturdiest panels I've ever seen. I'm always just 'sewing' them together with balin' twine. LOL!

You are lucky to not have poisonous snakes. We have cotton mouths, copperheads and rattle snakes to worry about!!! As for the pitchfork shot, that sounds like all skills to me!! Haha. We plan to dive deeper into trellising this year also. It is just so much more organized in my opinion. And of course I appreciate the compliment on the filming. We really do try our best to get good shots of what we are working on!

@@SalmonCreekLiving My mother was from Alabama (only 10 miles from where Jim Neighbors grew up, LOL!) and had snake stories. Even on the border of NY/PA, there are mountain rattlers, so I've been told, and my farrier grew up near Philly, about a mile from the Susquehanna, and said there were copperheads down in the rocks on the river bank. I'm just above the PA border - and hope they don't move north in 'global warming'.... Take care!

This was great! Haven't heard a good accent in a while either. Using the Middle Anchor Cables with those pull strings is so smart.

Def not Forrest Gump. Tom hanks did an an awful fake Alabama accent and the whole thing anti-southern, and shot in California with stock footage from here.

Outstanding. A master at the age of 30 just like me...30+ years ago. Consider adding a galvanized ridge pipe and 2 sides right where your cable ties in. Use tee junctions every 10' to run a strut from the ridge to each side, completing that uncrushable triangle. Then come to my house in Louisiana and build me one, because you love me..heck, you are me.

@@SalmonCreekLiving thank you. I thought they would have bern longer to span the seven feet with enough height to walk under them

Yeah, I know what you mean. It worked out great. I love the 7-foot width and there is plenty of head clearance.

LOVE the long tunnel! I've had 13 panels for a long time. This year, I'm making a LONG tunnel like this. I've already moved them. One thing I have learned over the past 8 years growing this way, is that the beds where I put the panel base in the MIDDLE of the beds perform great. Not on the edge of the bed. I plant the vines to grow inside to outside, and it shades products like lettuce inside, and on the outside for full sun, peppers. Some panels, I experimented doing a M or double hoop where they meet in the middle, those are the best. I have plans to do 4 long tunnels where they meet like a M eventually. It might take awhile to get that many panels. The other thing I always wondered was should I align them East to West or North to South. East to West works good for me. Good Instructions, thank you.

You definitely sound like you know your way around trellis growing!! We plan to try some lettuce under this trellis. Maybe something a little more heat tolerant like romaine. My trellis openings face north and south. This is just because of the way our entire garden is laid out. However, if I had it facing east to west, it would seem to me that my north side would not receive much sun. Either way good luck with your new tunnel!

@@SalmonCreekLiving I was concerned about the N side too. However, I’ve had equal harvest off both sides. I think the vining plants really cover the centers well and it just doesn’t seem to matter. I’ve grown small melons, squash, beans, cherry tomatoes and cucumbers all successfully.
