Is there a way to slice the stem initially and fold it over the dowel rod and then wrap to make an eyelet? I’m curious if that would work for this application or if it would be too flimsy

@alyssab193710 жыл бұрын
I have a question, actually a lot lol. But my main question(s) is.. To get a certain shape for the bussel, like the ones u have displayed in the back. Is it just basically sizing up the rods, doing a rough layout, and couple measurements? Also when u were adding the tape to the rod was the sticky side in or out when u inserted it into the feather? Those are my main Q's for now :) Chi-miigwetch for this tutorial! I'm gonna have one happy son!!

When you're making regalia is it necessary to use authentic feathers or can you use synthetic ?
@jonanderson44745 жыл бұрын
For most. Use what you got. Some use dyed turkey. Some use certain kind from visions. Some can't use some cuz cultural reasons or personal beliefs. For my first I don't want to use eagle cuz I don't feel too confident. So I actually asked around and an elder gave me a catalog from noc bay trading post. Somewhere in the u.p. of Michigan. They have a website to get materials. This reply is four months after the question but hope it helps whom ever sees it and benifits. If I'm in the wrong let me know.

Great video. Do you have any recommendations on getting the eagle feathers? We don’t live on a reservation. Our tribe is from California our elders and teachers have passed on unfortunately all was not passed on to take younger generation. I’m trying to pass what I can on to my children and 16 grand children. Thank you for any information you have. We are called 7 feather band of Mission Indian our family are listed in st Buenaventura’s baptism records. I now live in SC
@duanevigue16034 жыл бұрын
Eagles are federally protected. If your tribe is federally recognized and you are enlisted then you can obtain eagle feathers. ONLY tribes that are recognized and people who are enlisted can possess eagle feathers. Check with your local government and fish and wildlife agencies.
@serenelara-jd2bd Жыл бұрын
National Eagle Repository has an application process and their own guidelines to request feathers, you'll need a U-Number/Enrollment number from a federally recognized tribe.

Awake you can use JB weld putty to shape a fan handle. Basically you position the feathers how you want them and put the putty around the quills and shape the handle. Then leather wrap. Sorry I haven't found any videos on it but that's how I do my flat tail fans. The JB weld hardens like concrete. Good luck

question how much does it cost for golden raffle feathers
@machinegunkellykapoor8 жыл бұрын
DARTH SN1PER It is illegal to buy eagle feather or any eagle parts. Also you must be an enrolled member of a tribe with a card from the national eagle repository to legally own eagle parts.
@darthsn1per3888 жыл бұрын
Cante Tenza Win Goodface thank you for that information I did not know that it was illegal to purchase eagle feathers and parts
@machinegunkellykapoor8 жыл бұрын
DARTH SN1PER No problem. Yeah, even if you have eagle parts without having the card you can be arrested, fined, and possibly face jail time. are you an enrolled Native?
@darthsn1per3888 жыл бұрын
Cante Tenza Win Goodface: I am not enrolled Native but if I were to buy fake eagle feathers would that be ok
@machinegunkellykapoor8 жыл бұрын
DARTH SN1PER Yeah, fakes are fine. My son is 14 and a traditional dancer. He's getting his first eagle feathers this year, but has fake ones too because it's really important to learn how to take care of eagle items. Eagles are sacred so letting their feathers or parts drop or break is really bad. Sometimes you could have your feathers taken away for disrespecting them and publicly shamed. So anyway fake is probably best for you. You can get them at Crazy Crow online store.
