@@chipollino8839 Hi. The Iron Curtain didn't stop Many Cultural and Nature shows from being shown here. As a child I saw the Moscow Circus, the Bolshoi Ballet and Cossack Dancers, all Live here in New Zealand. We watched the USSR compete in the Olympics. I was 10 when I fell in love with the most beautiful girl I had ever seen, pull off a 10/10 performance in gymnastics. In those times; politics seldom interfered with sports and Cultural exchanges. In fact I think it was a deliberate policy on both sides. I would say the two sides are more aggressive toward each other than at any other time in my Life. This saddens me greatly, as we are all Family. It was always a dream of mine to travel the longest railway in the world and to see for myself the wonder of this fascinating Land. Here in N.Z. my parents, relations and many of their friends remembered that it was Russia that saved Europe from the Nazis, that America was a johnny-come-lately that was more dangerous to our forces than the Germans, due to their inability to identify who they were shooting at. Yes we came from Great Britten and though we were tied to the Crown and Commonwealth there was a very strong Socialist movement here, as there was in Britten itself in those times. Hope this helps. @@mille5913 Yes, in the 1950's, 60's and 70's the Soviet Culture was promoted all over the World. Even here at the bottom of the World, we would get Ballets, Circuses, Cossack and other dance groups, Orchestras etc. They were always eagerly awaited and Sold Out Fast. Apart from their promotion of such, my parents generation was very aware, that it was The Red Army that Saved Europe from the nazis and they all spoke highly of Russia's sacrifice and honour in the war. We weren't so Brainwashed back then. I also have a small promotional book about the rebuilding of Minsk, after the devastation that had occurred there. The unusual long sleeves on the men and the men walking on their tip toes made it look like they were floating. The music I can’t even describe. I loved the background colors as well. Thanks! After circassians were defeated on the battleground in the 1870s and completely surrendered to Russians, they were mercilessly deported to Ottoman empire by force. As the result 50% of the population were killed and died during deportation, and only less than 5% out of 2 million population at that time left on their motherland after this military operation which lasted just a couple of years. It was the first genocide in modern history, which led to complete destruction of the largest country in Caucasus with the size of Holland or Sweden within 2-3 years. Now there are around 5 million Circassian - Abkhaz diaspora abroad and Russians do not allow them to return to their motherland.

Every single woman looks like a queen; the costumes ALWAYS blow me away; and best of all, it is UNMISTAKEDLY a mating dance... but with ZERO vulgarity! As such, CIVILISATION at its most sublime. I would argue that we have nothing comparable in the West. WHAT ABOUT BALLET and OPERA? I hear you scream! No, not even ballet and opera:- they are so esoteric that 80-90% of the UK population would have to be PAID to sit through a ballet or operatic performance and, even then would not be engaged or be able to relate whereas every human being - from a savage in a mud hut to a highly educated aristocrat could immediately appreciate this performance. (Ballet dancers are, of course, also half-naked in their leggings and leotards as well.)
