my live watching experience, trying to be objective about it. about 15 minutes in, it's simultaneously kinda cool and yet hard for me to grasp. i really didn't like the opening with the arrowheads, though i get the feeling that i wasn't supposed to. assuming this wasn't some sort of money making scheme, i kinda like it so far. it feels like a lot of effort went into it, and it meant something to the person. didn't like the cells part, but im not surprised by that. 25 minutes in, and im starting to get a headache that's making it hard to watch. however, im very curious about how this was made. i assume this is early 2000's or before, so was all of this hand-modeled? i want more info. honestly, if this was made just to look cool, it succeeded at certain parts. at it's best parts, this seems like an electronic dreamscape, and at worst parts, just a bunch of models thrown on screen. and unfortunately, i didn't like the end that much either. when you don't like the beginning or the end, it's hard to give a glowing review. i think it's definitely interesting, but also not enjoyable at too many parts. idk if i can really rate something like this, so im not gonna bother. my headache is getting worse, gonna sleep it off.

I'm just looking at the negative comments and people calling this nonsense. But all I'm thinking is, if someone like Salvador Dali made this using paint then it would be considered a masterpiece and put in a museum. Tchaicovsky was a surrealist artist and his work shouldn't be dismissed solely because of the medium he chose to express himself with.
@Ranookswierdstuffs2 жыл бұрын
Idk man, i think people saw more in Dali art, and clearly the people dont see much in this. Whatever artistic value i can glean from its hallucinogenic flashes are shallow at best and dont correspond to one concise idea, i guess maybe the idea of growth into the furture and the mystique within? Idk

Salvador worked in a comfortable medium. This was artistry thrown at a digital wall be at the interpretation or the actual substance either or are subpar maybe it's a product of the time and how 90s animation looked but objectively this is basically a huge demo reel of computer power in the 90s maybe I'm the wrong one but I see nothing of substance beyond the music

Halfway through this.. I got it. The arrows everywhere. The men walking in a straight line, with a single outlier. This movie is an outlet for how Beny Tchaikovsky feels directionless, surrounded by people who know their way in life. He finds himself lost, trying different outlets, but all it ends up accomplishing is a head-throbbing sickness, with Tchaikovsky finding himself lost without ever leaving his home.

@@ramen_5646 All it takes is realizing each scene is about a different thought. It breaks and tangents sporadically, which is exactly how we all think. One second you think about life and what weight of the world you may carry, and the next you'll think of fantasy things, and the next you'll think of how something large always contains something smaller. These aren't every thought, but they are a few of the ones displayed here.

Here's my take (bear in mind that this is just guesswork). The first part could symbolise a lack of direction in life (maybe depression or a feeling of not fitting in). Most of the figures seem to know exactly where they need to go as shown by their robotic, choreographed marching and the arrows which replace some of their heads or at least, that might be how it appears to the main character. Meanwhile, one figure (the main character) gets separated from his fellows and ends up lost with arrows around him pointing in every direction. He has no idea where to go and seems to be very upset by this. When his head changes, it's not a singular arrow like the others but four arrows, pointing in different directions, emphasising this point. He then tries to blend in when he spots the others (shown with single arrow heads) by marching with them, pretending to be "normal" but gives up and leaves the line. The figure about to throw up and the clown could be two halves of the main characters psyche. One is so unhappy with the way things are that he could be physically sick while the other just wants to give up and embrace the madness or laugh at the futility of it all. The globe could be a way of showing how the worlds problems weigh on the mind (when Throw-up Guy is balancing it) and are so numerous and difficult to deal with that a person could become obsessed with them eventually driving them insane (when the globe is literally pulsating inside Clown's head, threatening to burst out). That's my guess, anyway.

An innocuous comment about the art on 90's trapper keepers lead to someone giving me a link to Beyond the Mind's Eye. Since then I've watched six of these 90's style cgi movies and I keep thinking "Huh, kind of a shame I don't do any drugs."
@RudiW1510 Жыл бұрын
Credit where credit is due. This is weirdly stimulating in parts. I get the feeling that this was, at least partially, inspired by the movie The Wall. I feel like it achieved its intended purpose. And the fact that this all was made by a single person on a 90s computer just blows my mind. The modelling alone must have taken forever. For what it is and what it stands for, it's an impressive accomplishment. Is it good? Yes it is. Am I going crazy for it? No. Do I enjoy it all? No. Will I recommend it? To some. It is well made. It is crazy and wild enough to watch. In parts it's very moody and atmospheric. It mostly is pleasing to the eye (mostly). Will I watch it again? Not very likely.
