Wild, I buy a switch for like $10 at autozone, wire it to the fuel pump, hid it in my car. when I get out I flip the switch. it would cut power to the fuel pump. I've had dozens of cars over the years, most performance cars, never one stolen. Couple smashed windows, but never stolen. I was doing that on 99 civic's I bought for 3k......

Technical PRO tip. If a vehicle owner uses a Faraday cage, owns a proper alarm theft system, steering wheel lock, fuel switch, and cable lock system, theft is exceptionally difficult. SKILLED equipped thieves have to spend upwards of 10-15 minutes to overcome ALL levels of protection which at this point they are confronted or dissauded.

They reprogrammed the key,the key hidden in a Faraday cage wont do anything as the cars computer is reprogrammed...thus no keys needed from the owner the cars key could be 11,000 miles away and you can reprogram it as you just witnessed. Dealers do it for example you lost your keys aka remote fob for keyless start/push button start on your dash...Alarm wont work as car already had one,steering wheel lock can be easily removed in 10 seconds by a thief..Remember if they really want your car they can have a truck and tow it away,some thieves use stolen tow trucks.

Always keep your key fobs in a faraday box! They were able to intercept his key fob signal from outside the home. All they had to do then is break in and drive away. A $20 faraday box from Amazon could have prevented this.

A $15 steering wheel lock put on the backside of the steering wheel would have prevented this theft. A $25 apple airtag would have allowed him to track it. Doesn't take much to prevent auto theft but it takes at least some effort.

I bought the lt4/10l90E out of a wrecked 2018 ZL1 Camaro to put in to my 1970 C10. I bought it on eBay from a verified wrecked car, checked the vin etc. to confirm mileage/maintenance. After I bought it I found out just how easy it would have been to get a hot one. I work in and around Oakland, and I have heard you can get the the "whole car" for 10k. Which is quite a bit less then I paid for the motor/trans. With the market for restomod swaps the way it is, and how easy it is to strip and sell something like that, it's not going to stop anytime soon.

Thieves overcame and one with a kill switch, steering wheel lock and tracker from a guy I know of. Tracker was found abandoned in a nearby neighborhood, ripped out and left. OnStar module was also removed.
