Yes absolutely! You will know that the manure is well cured when there is barely any scent and it does not give off any heat.

Call around various agricultural shops. There is one in Curepe where I bought cow manure. It needs to be cured though. In Port of Spain I heard of horse manure from the paddock in St. James.

18:51 Talking about mulch, you barely touched on that. What would you use and where do you get it? I see many types. How do you pick the best kind? Do you add nutrients over the old and add fresh or do you move aside before adding nutrients?
@thetrinigardener4712
@thetrinigardener4712 7 ай бұрын
The best mulch is free- halfway done compost, dried leaves and twigs crushed up- nothing with color/dye. Move aside the mulch then add nutrients!

You're very good! I'm considering growing cauliflower here. This is helpful. Thank you! Do you plant pollinators? When you buy a bag of manure, is it cured?
@thetrinigardener4712
@thetrinigardener4712 2 жыл бұрын
I don't plant them, not because I don't want to but because I naturally have many where I am. There is no standard for manure in Trinidad unfortunately so we have to figure out if it's cured or not on our own. If the manure feels warm to hot or has a offputting smell then it is not cured and if it is cool with very little smell then it is cured. In general when I buy manure I empty it from the bag and cover it with a tarp for at least 2 months before I use it but you don't have to be this extreme. Thanks for watching!

How do you control pests? My first crop grew without any problem and free of chemicals. But pests destroyed the second crop which I was hoping to grow organic as well. Is there a natural pesticide that can be used?
@thetrinigardener4712
@thetrinigardener4712 2 жыл бұрын
I have a tutorial on how to make an organic pesticide however I havent had to use it in recent times since I've been using my sweet potato patch as a sacrificial plant. The pests eat the sweet potato leaves which bounce back easily and they leave these plants alone.

@thetrinigardener4712
@thetrinigardener4712 2 жыл бұрын
I know how frustrating that can be. A short term solution would be to use an insecticide to get rid of them. I have a tutorial on how to make a homemade organic one, just search my channel for organic Insecticide. A long term solution would be to introduce more herbs and marigolds in your garden as they help keeping the white flies away.

No sorry. More than likely an F1 hybrid which is what most agro shops have. Very unstable seed producers so mostly just good for planting.
