Worth saying that some papers have questioned the robustness of RD studies for incumbency advantage. They looked at tied elections wherein a randomisation procedures like coin tosses or drawing straws were used to break the tie and decide the election. They included results from various countries too, and showed that incumbency effect size was sometimes negative and generally very heterogenous, contrary to many RD studies.
