I never was a dairy drinker as a child or even in adulthood. Not sure if I have a calcium deficiency...according to lab work my calcium/vitamin D levels are okay. But I find it interesting you mentioned here that decreased stomach acids inhibit the absorption of calcium. I've been on PPIs (proton pump inhibitor) for GERD about 10 years now. I do think there is a correlation between calcium levels and taking these stomach acid reducing medications. Tried to come off of them but suffer abd pain.

Amazing video. Very full of information. People really need to learn that milk doesn't really offer much that you can't get from other foods, specifically plant foods... It was one of the biggest comments from people against veganism. Protein and Calcium .

How are your viewers supposed to know if they have a calcium deficiency? Anyway. I'm doing plant-based whole foods and I've started using Cron-o-meter and it shows calcium as the only mineral that I'm consistently low in. So, it seems that C is not so available in most foods. Or maybe the RDA is too high?

This is kind of off topic, but was wondering what you recommend for severe acid reflux? I eat a low acid diet but am still on omeprazole & really really want to get off of it. Any suggestions would sure be appreciated!!

Seriously, with all due respect, a lot of what you say above simply is not true. Calcium from plants is not necessarily more absorbable. Please check out this comprehensive study that showed that even calcium carbonate absoprtion was not affected by low stomach acid. I don't know if youtube will allow me to put the link in here, so I'll list the Pubmed number: PMC2621390.

the only supplement i have right now is calcium (as calcium carbonate). should i finish up the bottle or am i better off without it??

Shit, I literally just bought calcium supplements about 45 minutes ago -__- I'm pretty sure I'm calcium deficient because my nails are very week and my toenails have stopped growing.
