Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Birth Maisie's 1st Puppies

Our wonderful Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Maisie gave birth to 5 beautiful puppies in her 1st litter. See how it all unfolds in this video we put together! This video shows her 1st whelping experience and as complete amateurs, we probably did lots of things wrong but as it was our first time breeding our dogs, it was all quite an experience! We were a bit more hands on that we would have liked to be but for the safety and welfare of Maisie and the pups it had to be done! But as you will see all went well in the end and Maisie successfully delivered 2 girls and 3 boys.
After requests for updates we have decided to put together a series of videos for the time that the puppies were with us. There were plenty of highs but certainly a very low point which all gets revealed in week 1. We will try to release the videos weekly so please do subscribe and hit the notifications bell to keep updated.

Yes absolutely it was such an amazing experience with Maisie as it was our first litter. The puppies were all gorgeous! Maisie did brilliantly also.

Maisie was a young mummy at 1 year and 6 months when she bred with Charlie. Vet checked her out fully and he was happy to proceed so we did.

I’d love to see an update video! Our Lacie (also a Cavalier) is pregnant! Due on the 12th of September! She’s really big! Bigger than yours was right before birth! 5 is big for a Cavaliers first litter! Hope we have that many!

This was horrific and absolutely abusive... I understand y’all are new and definitely didn’t know what you where doing but you and your wife holding her down and your wife GOING and PULLING THE PUPPYS OUT WHILE SHES TRYING TO PUSH - pushed me over the edge. You both needed to let her be she would have let you know if she was in pain you both did too much. Also why are you holding her down in one spot ? She needed to be able to move around to feel comfortable and confident pushing the puppy’s out also she will let the puppy’s latch on she didn’t need to be feeding them while still in active labor. Did y’all read or mabye ask any type of vet befor you did this? This is not a human birth it’s a dog you got this so wrong I know you both seem really panicked but I can’t help but think you didn’t care about the safety of your own dog you just wanted the puppy’s out to sell because it’s a very expensive breed. I feel bad for your dog ripping the puppy’s out of her must have hurt. You rubbing that dog with the wash cloth instead of letting the mom lick them off ahahah I can’t even believe it but you must have watched how to let your dog give birth for the Disney movie. Because y’all are both in LALA land and I’ve only seen that happen in a movie where it’s fake. Please don’t do this ever again. Take this video down because this in no way should be what anyone else looks to for info to help their dog get though pregnancy. I can see how this pregnancy was most likely an accident but if you really didn’t spay and neuter your dogs I look down on you as horrible people. If you can afford puppy’s you can afford to take your dog to the vet for the pregnancy as well to spay and neuter both your dogs. I’m a sorry if this was harsh but I really think this was more than enough for this to be almost abusive.

It was quite hard work to be honest. At first she was so distressed we were worried she would have killed the puppies hence why we had to take control. We wanted to be safe than sorry.

No she’s right I think you definitely added to her stress trying to make her clam down they have instincts to push and have the baby to also clean off the baby and make sure it’s breathing the mom will lick the baby until the mouth is clear and nose.. you both have very good intentions but here you definitely made her first pregnancy hell. Like tbh. Your not supposed to go and GRAB. The puppy while it’s still in here let her do the work and have the baby she can do it herself you do not need to keep her still having birth is hard and she was probably in a good amount of pain. Mabye instead of hovering over the puppy’s that I know you must have sold for a good amount of money your wife coulda hit the treadmill 😅 and taken care of herself like those roots she had. Your wife was so not okay to be pulling those puppy’s out !

We tried our best but she needed quite a bit of intervention due to the distress in the overall process. There was very much many hours between the videos where we tried to keep herself to it.

AWFUL. I Couldn’t finish watching this video. It’s obvious this breeders do not know what they are doing. I feel so badly for the mama dog, they just wouldn’t leave her alone😡

Thank you for comment. We tried our best and this being our first time we learnt a lot from it. We tried to leave her to get on with things but she honestly was at risk of hurting the puppies as well as herself so we had to be more hands on than we wanted to be. All turned out well in the end which was the main thing.
