Love the vibe of Hobbs, he is bringing them back to 2011 levels of good, I've seen him rehearse the line and it's really awesome. Combined with Mac's amazing writing, it's really awesome

+Tyler Stewart Joe taught at my high school for several years along with Craig Leoffler. They both always pushed us to be our best but made us feel great about our accomplishments after. I miss those guys haha.

I may be showing my age here (FMM 2000), but when did The Cavaliers become a west-coast drumline? Excessive head-bobbing, crazy stick heights, and wet snare/low tenor tuning. If I were to close my eyes and listen to the book, I would have thought that this would have been SCV minus the cymbals. I guess I long for the Bret Kuhn days, just executing the book without all the flash and saving the theatrics for the field.

I mean those stick flourishes they did were so early 2000's

You and me both man! Favorite drumlines of all time growing up were 2000-2005 cavies.

Though I agree with you, it's been a while since cavs haven't acted 'west coast'

I've been saying that for awhile. All of these drumlines look the same. Don't get me wrong, they're really good. But, they all do same visuals, same routines, and they all do that stick click after warming up where they hit the rims. I loved late 80's, early 90's when all were so different.

Cavs have always had a smooth line as far back as I can remember. Also, thanks to the camera operator. I can see what tenor and snares are doing. AND, I don't feel like I need a sea sick pill after watching like some of these other amateurs.

OG SCV tenor tuning from the Cavs this season.
@APSWRX8 жыл бұрын
Maybe not new SCV but still definitely has that west coast sound/tuning. Snare feature has a Jim Casella feel to it with the crushed/buzz rolls. The tenors in the beginning of the clip accenting the snares with rim shots on drum 5 are super SCV! Don't get me wrong, it's a good book, just a different sound/approach them what I'm used to hearing from my boys.

I guess I'm just getting old haha! The book is good and will get tighter as the season progresses, but I just miss how solid they were when Bret was there. I do appreciate some of the visuals and how they keep some thought the years. The heel tap is from 2000! :) The new unis on the other hand are a tough sell for me. Hopefully it's just for this season!

The bass drums need to shine as well, I hear them partially and they sound pretty tasty. Shouldn't the quints march to their destination instead of walking past the snares? Whoever was their drumline caption head from 2000-2004 needs to come back and make them sound like the Cavaliers I remember.
