You are 100% right about waring a hat to advert damage from the sun. Cavenders has competive prices, and has always been good to me over the years. I have soaked palm leaf hats in a bucket of water which made shaping easy, just takes a while to dry; when it is hot you can dampen them to keep cool if they are a work hat; over all lots better than straw hats which may cost less.
