Its been almost 2 years now.. My best friend came out to his parents as trans and they weren't supportive of him. Depression got the best of him at the end, he attemped 3 times and the last one was successfull. I will always have you in my heart Matthew/Matty. You re the most awesome friend i've ever had. Please to all the parents out there. Accept and support your child. LOVE THEM. We dont need more sadness in this world. Thank you Edit 1: He was FTM trans and used both he/him and they/them pronouns. Went by the name Matthew or Matt for short. At the time of his passing, he was 16 yrs old. Short faded hair, used binders and had hormone blockers. I loved his courage and his strength to make changes in his life so he could become happier. Edit 2: I didnt expect this comment to get any likes, but since it did, spread love below for matthew and for every trans kid that struggles with acceptance. There is hope people, dont give up. Be strong for Matthew, for me, for yourself. You are valid!

Whenever this song comes on, it tears my heart. A little over a year ago- September 2019- I was admitted to the psyche ward. I was 16. In one of the lowest times in my whole life. I tried killing myself so I had to stay there for two weeks; it wasn’t a bad experience. One day in gym, us kids got in a circle. Some kid named Xander had a ukulele, and we all chose a song we knew. So... we sat in a circle singing this together- the “I can’t really think right now in this place, there’s too many colors , enough to drive all of us insane” was really fitting, and I remember all of us laughing at that part, because this kids ward wing was so colorful, covered in animal themes, and oh so bright. And, of course, all of us were connected to these lyrics... it was very therapeutic and makes me miss that place every time. I made fast friends there, it was shocking to me. Other broken kids who just had it bad. “Strangely he feels at home in this place” really hits home... that place did feel like a home for so many of those kids. One girl, Faye ; she had been there for three whole months before I got there. Her family was terrible to her. She was always on edge and easily triggered, pretty stuck up. But awful things happened to her. She was in my pod when she disowned her family for real over the phone. It was shocking... I’m turning 18 next month, and, i just want to say that I’m glad I’m better...... and this song is so special to me. It was quite an experience. It was hard being away. But it felt nice being with people who understood the pain I was going through.

This song gives me so much nostalgia, I remember when I was in sixth grade, it was the year I really began to contemplate suicide , this was the song I’d listen to to sort of drown that out. In seventh grade I ended up moving schools twice, and I just felt out of place, like everything was wrong, that’s when contemplating turned into planning and attempts. I'm trans and bi and I have a southern Baptist therapist. Sometimes I really wish I had someone to talk to about my dysphoria and my experiences with homophobia, but I have to leave that part of myself at the door when I walk into his office. I have friends I can talk to but they're all going through stuff and right now I need someone who's actual job is to help people through their problems who isn't homo/transphobic. I first heard this song when I was twelve and I immediately knew what it was about even though I did't even know what being trans was. Now I'm really attached to this song because of that and it's helped me through a lot.

...So I was in a play not to long ago, and there was this person, and I saw them wearing a Cavetown shirt. Either on the second time we preformed, or on the last, I finally asked them what their favorite Cavetown song was, because I wanted to let them know that we were interested in the same things, because they were so cool. They said this one, because of it's meaning. and I said that I like devil town. Never mentioned it, but if you're reading this some how, I want to let you know that Devil Town is my favorite Cavetown song to listen too, but this is home is the most comforting song to me I have ever heard. I also love Devil Town because I strictly relate to the lyrics "I forgot my name again, that seems like something worth remembering." It was an honor to work with you, and I hope we'll do just that again in the future. You seem like the type of person who would listen to the official audio, but i couldn't say all of this on there, so, if some how you clicked on *this* video, out of all the ones you could, it was so great acting with you, and I felt very awkward and stressed working on that play, (especially getting ready and changing into make up and costume) but any time I would get back from doing something scary or stressful, you would just be sitting there, and then you would some how say something stupid enough, or crazy enough for me to feel like and realize that the shows didn't matter, it was the people in the play that did, and it wasn't just about having fun up on stage and acting, it was also about having fun back stage, and talking to loud in the "green room" while watching the other play happen. So thanks for joining in, and making my day no matter what had happened before you walked in that theater, it was so great hanging out with you.

When I heard this song 2 years ago, 13 year old me wouldn't have guessed it was a trans boy's story since they grew up in a religious surrounding. Now I'm open about their struggles and who they because I've grown to accept them since we're all people. This year, I found out that I'm genderfluid, I'm closeted at the moment and still struggling to love me. Honestly it doesn’t matter who you love, neither do labels. But people have dug it into the brains of children at girls do this, guys do that, and that you can only like the opposite gender. Like if it was the way lgbt wanted it to be, there would be no labels- we’d just love who we love. But people insist that whoever you love is wrong- as if right now, you don’t have to think about who you love. You probably have a lot on your mind and just realize that it doesn’t matter who you love, just as long as you don’t change your personality so people will pretend to like you.
