when i first listened to this song, the first version, i was alone in my room comparing how my dad raises his gfs son compared to how he helped raise me and my siblings, realizing how much different and how much stricter he was on us, later being told about a bunch of rude things he had said to my mom when they were splitting up. but ill give him credit bc hes stuck around unlike my siblings dad. now im listening to this one, laying on a bed i share with my mom, in a house that isnt ours, because my stepdad left us with nothing. i saw a comment on a lyric video for this song that compared the 1st one to a younger teen being upset about their parents getting a divorce, and this one being older and just accepting how everything is now. and i would say thats pretty accurate, i used to dream about how much easier life could have been if my mom and dad stayed together, but now i know they weren't good for eachother. same with my stepdad. thank you for this song, its been a great comfort to me for dealing with my situation

My theory after 4 years of listening to this masterpiece here : he was only in prison for a theft or a vandalism of his abusive father's car, felt finally safe from the first devilstown--home, but this prison guard was a bully and the prison becomes the second devil town, and now this guy's dead, tossed in the water, and this was his first kill, now he realizes in the woods by the water it never mattered where he is because his existence is a devil town, there's no escape (still wanting to figure out the spider shoes part tho)

This was the first song I ever heard from cavetown and honestly, this changed my view on music. I never found music that I related with so much or someone I could understand and also relate with. I hope that cavetown becomes very successful and I hope that one day I could see you play a song in person.
