As a fellow wedding photog I agree wholeheartedly with all of these! Breaks my little photographer heart when I show up to a wedding day to find situations I can't do anything about that will photograph so poorly.

The cake against the wall and the tall decor at the sweetheart table happen constantly.

It's so tough, there aren't great spots at most venues for the cake!

@@cavinelizabeth yea, I mention it during the consultation but I also know there's only so much some locations can do it's just one of those things

My venue has a vineyard behind me and a barn in front of me and a pond beside me and another barn on the other side and a Victorian house, but it’s nice not to see anything ugly and have plenty of pretty backdrops. It really saves on decorations.

Sounds lovely!

I've always thought that those mirrored table surfaces/coverings must be a nightmare to photograph! Also just imagine keeping those clean and free of e.g. fingerprints or spillages or crumbs etc when people sit at them and eat/drink! 🙈

Oh those are super hard - forget about top down place setting pics lol (which are my fav pics). They definitely need a deep clean after a wedding!

I liked that my aunt put her cake on the dance floor in the center of the ballroom while we were coming in and then they moved it to serve and it was a very colorful cake and a huge cake, so it made a nice centerpiece. I think it’s tacky when people have junk on the cake table like you don’t need plates, napkins, silverware, etc. with your cake. Or a big banquet table with a wrinkled, plasticy tablecloth and this little cake. Put some effort and thought into making your cake display nice.

Definitely agree, make the cake table look beautiful! It's decor and food ;)

I thought it was neat my friend got married in the gazebo of a shopping center and you can’t tell in the pictures plus we stood in weeds in the ditch off the interstate which sucked, but the pictures looked nice. You can’t tell it was misting and sprinkling and freezing.

So I saw your earlier video which says your favorite film to use is Fuji Pro 400H. However, that's been discontinued for a while, so I'm wondering what you intend to do when existing stocks run out. Will you switch over to Kodak Portra? Also, have you ever shot a wedding in black-and-white film?
@cavinelizabeth2 жыл бұрын
I did make the switch to Portra 400, which I wasn't super thrilled about due to the slightly warmer tones. That said, I did a test between the two stocks and there wasn't a HUGE difference. www.cavinelizabeth.com/news/fuji-400h-vs-portra-400-vs-portra-800/ I have shot BW film. I like it, but I would rather shoot color film and convert to BW so I have the choice of the two. It's hard having to shoot 16 whole images in a row on BW. I don't always want that many shots of BW in a row :)

@@cavinelizabeth I can definitely understand the trouble of shooting lots of photos consecutively on the same thing. I shoot 35mm film, so I have to shoot 36 images in a row. (Not a wedding photographer; I shoot my personal memories on film.) I do miss 400H. I find that it's the best fit for shooting in winter weather, and the two rolls I've managed to shoot with it have been my best.

I have 2 or 3 boxes left of Fuji, not sure what to save it for lol!
