Caving in Sagada

In the mountain town of Sagada, more than 60 caves can be found, and one of them is the well-known attraction called Sumaguing Cave. You’ll witness numerous rock formations inside that slowly formed nature.
The Sumaguing Cave is the biggest one in Sagada. The rock formations that resemble common forms are the highlight of this incredible adventure. The bird and elephants, the tortoise and the chocolate cake are some of these formations.
There is an individual-made staircase from Sumaguing Cave's mouth. It’s quite manageable to go down, as the more you look ahead and look down, the easier it is, which is why beginners can enjoy the caving trail experience here.
How to get there
Sumaguing Cave is about an hour's walk from the City Hall in Sumaguing. Ride a tricycle or jeepney to the Sagada Tourism Office, and then register and get a guide if you’re not going to pre-book a tour.
The best time to visit
It’s better to visit Sumaguing cave during the dry season, from November to May.
Entrance Fee
You will have to register at the Sagada tourist office and pay environmental tax to get the receipt that will be your ticket to accessing tourist spots in the province, which includes Sumaguing Cave.
