I just got that fiio cable, I got some really nice close-ups of it. Very nice cable feels suple, with a nice not to tight braid and for my Noble Audio Djangos did improve the sound over stock cable.

Hey Currawong. Share videos more frequently please. Also can you review the Ifi Zen Can ? You like the Zen Dac what you think about stacking them ? Is dac portion of Zen Dac competitive ? What you think about Zen dac+ can stack vs Schiit's modi, modius, magni, magnius and asgard 3 products. Zen can is also class a amplifier like Asgard 3.

@currawong, you need to get the Micron Industrial Military-grade Micro SD Card. 256GB is about $95, 512GB is about $170 but worth every penny. It'll transform the performance and sound of any DAP but 50% more so on a Cayin DAP from my limited testing (Transformed the N3 Pro into some $3000 dollar sounding DAP). It's due to how Cayin preserves the same PCM stream from the SD Card, even after the FPGA stage. The card had some impact on the ZX500 AND NW55 sound i.e wider stage, better separation, and improved depth & details but turned the Cayin DAP into a monster performer. Basically a taste of Audiophile heaven.
@Currawong2 жыл бұрын
Sony used to make a low-noise 64GB micro sd card, which a friend of mine thought improved his A&K DAP. I doubt that a card can transform a $500 DAP into a $1000+ level one though. The internal DAC and other components will still be a limiting factor. I see that Sandisk and Samsung make high endurance cards too.

@@Currawong Industrial cards use the fastest most expensive types of memory, magnetic shielding, X-ray proof etc and it’s what space x,military etc only use. They don’t use consumer grade cards. What I tested isn’t a dream or wishful thinking. Shielding a card and using the fastest memory does affect electron travel. Do some testing and you’ll understand

Reviewers should not give DAP manufacturers a pass for using outdated android OS. Even if it is not used as a smartphone, newer android versions give various feature,performance and security improvements.
@Currawong4 жыл бұрын
On the contrary, it is up to the person watching the review to see if the features are worth it to them, and buy it or not. That being said, there are issues with newer versions of Android and getting bit-perfect output as I understand it, and the primary target market requires that for digital connections.

Yes, dynamic is a great description and a good way to put it, what a good Sabre implementation sounds like. And couldn't agree more the optimum experience in the way the item was designed to be its best (if it's balanced, use balanced, not cuz it's better itself, but because the device was designed to be best that way; and say, with a Chord product, then single ended). Great breakdown and I've been interested in this dap more than a couple of times. Also still interested in Hugo 2. Cayin players are nice to my taste, with that classic look and focus to that good sound quality. Good review. 👍🏼

Bought mine on release, had to get it ordered in for Australia. Absolutely love my unit (A01), I use it on the go, as a streamer and music source in the living room (seriously, the inbuilt streaming capabilities are awesome), as a player in my car. I even use it as a LDAC broadcaster to use my WH1000xm4 with my desktop. I also like to use it around the house when I want to use planars away from my desk, it's got a bit of heft and I find this is the most comfortable way to use it. It puts out the 500mw+ to make my HE6se comfortably loud for bed/couch use, and then it scales way down for my Ex1000/Xelento/ER4Xr. The effective 300 volume steps are great. Cayn support is really great. All I hope for is root access for UAPP and global EQ, but otherwise it's perfect. Honestly if I got it first I'm considering getting the E02, do you think it'd be worth it? It's got a bit more juice and balanced line is nice, do you think I'd have any noise issues?
@Currawong4 жыл бұрын
I didn't have any noise issues with the Andromedas and the E02, so for everything else it should be fine.

I owe both the T01 and the E02. They both sound great with my E-MU TEAKS headphones. The T01 sounds "brighter" and that makes it a bit fatiguing with classical music, as the strings are too bright. It's great however with country, rock, folk, soul and jazz (if you like the sax and drums to really stick out). The E02 is definitely the more balanced module and could be the daily allrounder. If I had to choose between them the E02 would be my choice. E02 is the main course, nicely presented and the T01 is the desert that it's nice to have but you just can't be your only "food". I haven't listened to the other modules yet. HOWEVER, these observations are valid for the specific headphones I am listening to. In case you have absolutely neutral headphones maybe the T01 might be your first choice.

Hi Currawong, just wondering why Australian manufacturers like Redgum Audio and Weston Acoustics etc don’t get a look in with reviews. Be handy for us who want to buy a Australian but have no idea. I know it might be a little close to home to provide unbiased feedback but just putting it out there

Probably because I'm living in Japan and I don't know anything about Australian manufacturers unless someone tells me about them. Thanks for the suggestion though.
