Insanely well written, well sung, musical arrangement, then adding Stapleton? Literally a perfect a country song.

This song was the kick in the butt I needed to end my abusive relationship of 10 years. I realized how much of my life and freedom I gave up, and how he wanted a white picket fence life when I didn't. I hadn't realized where the last 10 years of my life went, and I wasn't okay with risking losing more again. It's been a year later and I'm in a happy relationship where things feel mutual, respectful and kind. If anyone is nervous in the risk of leaving what you know so well, don't be afraid to take a risk. You know where you have been, spread your wings and look to where you could go.

I love Chris Stapleton, but why mess with perfection? This song, in my not so humble opinion, was already one of the best songs ever written. Hope this propels you too the fame you deserve for your immense talent on a song that is still criminally underrated.

This is an incredible song and one of the best voices I've heard in so long. This is difficult song to sing, isn't it crazy how some of these get lost? Sometimes you just need a simple, easy song to sing along with for it to rise on the charts it seems

To all my fellow ladies who wasted their youth and good looks on a pathetic small town hypocrite. 🤗 welcome to the club 🤣 seriously, this song came to me at the exact moment in life where every single lyric describes exactly what i went through and how i feel.... funny how you find that one song every time you are struggling that reminds you that you're not alone and will survive the hell you're climbing out of. Thank you Caylee! Gonna add this to my "if a movie about my life was ever made this is the soundtrack" playlist 🤣

To all the women out there that are wasting their time on Me Too! Mindset. Wasting your time on the big bad Rich and powerful Bad boy Who all of you seem to March in the streets with your fists in the air in protest of , But yet still take care beds every night. May I remind you the middle class man the one who actually built or may I say help build Destination The ones who were able to gain a chance and sweep off your feet because because of hard work and diligence that is that is until the Democrat democrats took over our society. We're still here. And we are still waiting for you to pull your heads out of your asses and realize Who we are.

LYRICS: Hand me down dreams got me high in the rafters Homecoming queen couldn't be an outsider So there I'd sit, with a cigarette lit in a leather jacket I found a boy who was a stranger too In a one-horse town at a stable for two We had matching scars and matching tattoos Both dying to fit in Ain't that some shit We're just small-town hypocrites And that scholarship was a ship that sailed When I chose you and daddy gave me hell I made myself into someone else just to love you, damn I loved you Took all my plans and I put 'em in a box Phantom pains for the wings I lost Had me circling rings in the catalogs For seven years and you never got the hint Ain't that some shit I'm just a small-town hypocrite Swore we'd be running, running, running this town But you're just running, running, running around And I'm staring at a picket fence Wondering where the hell time went I should've been running, running, running by now But I just hang around Love shot me out like a rocket Never to return and man, I forgot it How it feels to fall from orbit and land on shifting sands I found my heart at the bottom of a bucket You said you needed space and damnit I bought it 'Till you moved in a vinyl sided double wide with a couple of her kids Ain't that some shit You're just a small-town hypocrite (Oooh, oooh, ooooh) Swore we'd be running, running, running this town But you're still running, running, running around And I'm staring at a picket fence Wondering where the hell time went I should've been running, running, running by now But I just hang around Now I bitch about how things turned and how they should've been The bridges that I burned and the trains I didn't catch Like a small-town hypocrite Just a small-town hypocrite Source: Musixmatch Songwriters: Jared Scott Slocum
