For 3x3 matrices : Use characteristic equation as : (Lambda)^3 - ( sum of diagonal elements ) ( Lambada )^2 + ( Sum of the minors of diagonal elements ) ( Lambada ) - ( Determinant of matrix ) =0 . U will get the characteristic equation quickly and then solve the Eqn to get eigen values
