I have the earlier version of the Cayman and I mod'd the heck out of and love it. I will still stay away from SCX24 stuff, but it's really only because the 1.0 hardware is so fragile. The 1.5 on the FCX24 and TRX4M makes such a big difference. If Axial ever did a ground-up rebuild on the SCX24 to include better hardware (and more universal tinkering), I'd consider trying them out again.

I really like the Cayman platform too. After a little twiking, it can get pretty smooth, I’ve tried the RCAwd + 35 links ext. for fcx24 and it’s about 25mm longer then the Gladiator lenght. It make it crawls like nothing else. Great video and info. 👍

I just bought one of these a few days ago sight unseen. Probably 4 400mah batteries on it 100% stock now. Biggest problem I see with it is the drive line slop. I can slow crawl it into a big ledge and the front wheels/wheel loaded stops and the rest of the drove line not loaded still turns quite a bit. Some times causing the rear end to walk over before the front tires think of climbing. I think this is part of the reason why it feels choppy. I bought this rather than a cr18p evo pro to try and avoid this partly. Mainly because this was actually cheaper than the cr18p building I was planning. Overall I'm happy but it has a few short comings
@David_MashКүн бұрын
As if the rear has over drive and the front under drive? Is that not the opposite of desirable? Maybe the front and rear gearing got switched on all these at the factory?
@stefan-norge8 ай бұрын
Great review, as always 👍🏻 Would have bought it if the gearing were lower. But if I spend that much money on a fully moded rig I expect not to have to change the gear box or other main parts. Wheels & tires are ok to change, but the rest should be „perfect“ out of the box regarding the prize….

Hey have you seen the Exo U-joints? They have them for stock, injora +4, and super 8 axles. They do 55 degrees! Crazy. Another question: at this point, which do you prefer... Isokinetics or Super8??? I'm building a belly dragger, gonna try to build it more 1/18 scale, with probably an Atlas body. Also, i like to BUILD, so expensive RTR is not my thing. Thank you, always excellent honest reviews from you!

I have the brushed evo pro. No need to go brushless. With the 2 speed transmission you will never get a smoother power-delivery with any brushless system. I have lots of furitek stuff and you have allways this jump, when it goes out of foc. I just upgraded wheels and tires (the 73mm swamp claws combo from injora) and the shocks (the full aluminium ones, filled with 600ct oil). No leaking, no torque twist. All in all over 100 bucks cheaper than this one. And I personally hate this magnets. The clips are a bit fiddly, but the body stays in place, instead of coming down every time.
