CB Antenna Help???

Hello out there, I’m trying to get advice from people who are a lot smarter than me when it comes to this stuff. Really appreciate all your guys advice and I appreciate you watching as well.

Hello Matt DoubleM781 You and I were talking on the same setup your wanting to do with your A99. I just did rework my antennas and the first test was talking with you on Ch37 (your time stamp 2:42) I have no SWR issues -Mine are at 1.3 or less depending on Pwr Out @ 400Watts (less with no amp) I used a electrical chunk of conduit 2ft 6in. on the same mast as my Maco 4 element beam. Just make sure to leave enough turning slack in the vertical coax to accommodate the turning of your beams and not stress your cable. My A99 was what I had a QSO with you on and switching while we talked. My setup is 34ft ground to yagi and a 2ft 6in. pipe for the A99. I'm on the hunt for better coax as I'm using RG213 for the Yagi and RG Alpha RG8u for the A99. Again SWR on both antennas is 1.3 or less from ch20 to 38 to 45. I might get a fiberglass section to replace the portion of conduit above the yagi to see if i can get the swr even lower. Go it Matt youll be ok. 73's and be safe out there.. Most of them I see put a vertical about 5 ft above their beam. I've seen them with and without ground planes. I've been on your live a few times with my homemade inverted V but I also have a sirio 2016 up on the tower and I absolutely love that antenna. 220 NW Missouri 👋

If the grndplane doesn't have grnd radials, I recommend 6ft above beam, if it has radials, at least 9ft above. Personally, i wouldn't chance one that had grndradials at all. I have an A-99 6 ft above my 4flat, flat swrs.

@@doublem7812 sirio 2016. I seen the other reply. I was close. If your tower is up extremely high then personally I would just run a standard vertical like an a '99. The reason why people use ground planes is because they have a lower takeoff angle for people who can't get there antennas up that high. My vertical ground plane is at 36ft but I'm down in a hole.

The secret is to use a piece of fiberglass or plastic pipe to use as the riser. Get it at least 10 feet above the beam and it works fantastic.

If you put a vertical on top of the beam don't use ground planes because it will mess with the beam performance. Performance. The antron will work great on top of the beam and the beam elements will be the ground planes.
