For everyone, yes there is a ton more slang words used. And I could have made a video detailing all the words and techniques used that I know of, but that would be one long ass video. This is just the basics on how to get started. There are also old school and new school terms. Different fields also use different terms. But this isn't a video covering everything. It's a fast simple basic and to the point video.

Some States have their own channel like Washington. Washington state runs 12 mostly. Also a lot of old timers run 12 for north/south driving and 19 for east/west driving and still do. That way communications didn't get crossed between interstates and confuse everyone. I think that's why Washington adopted 12 as the main channel, because most everything runs n/s on I5 in the state. I think Oregon runs mostly 12 also. I think 19 became the community channel because the majority of drivers are running e/w and e/w interstates are the longest and most used. Some companies have their own channel, like walkens and Sheppard use channel 6.

This is a decent start but there's a lot that wasn't mentioned or stated incorrectly. Not everything is a four wheeler, count the tires, you've got your four wheelers yes, but you've got your six wheelers (big six and little six) ten wheelers, bobtails, hotshots (mainly used up in the oil patch) heavy hook, Rock buckets. City Kitty for the city cop, county mounties for county sheriff's, full grown for state trooper, diesel Bear is carrier enforcement, meat wagon or boo boo bus for an ambulance even this is a starter list to add to yours. But the most important thing is, with the cb it doesn't do anyone a bit of good if the damn thing isn't turned on and used for what it's intended for.

Lingo comes in all forms and most of it makes sense if you know the context. Of course when you start driving more unique roles you'll have more advanced callouts as its usually more cautious and strenuous driving. But the gist of it being using direction and identification first, then elaborating more on the hazard or whatever it may be youre broadcasting. And I think he conveyed that perfectly in his video. Safe and effective use. And unless people get ridiculous with their lingo I think most people will know what someone is trying to say. If Im ever in a pile up or something Ill definatley at least call it out. I just use mine for offroading, I dont drive professionally.

Been driving 10 years... Never heard "sandwich lane". I usually just hear it called "the middle". Another common term to add to the list... "Gator" (As in Alligator). You'll hear them say there's a 'gator in whichever lane (hammer/granny). A 'gator are those big chunks of retread tire rubber that come off the drive tires or trailer tires. It's good to call out debris like that. Especially if the other drivers are stuck in a cluster of other vehicles (since 4 wheelers are fuckin stupid and seem to think we like having them magnetically attached to our fuel tanks like pilot fish) and it'll give them a chance to avoid it. Nothing more frustrating than hitting a gator/chunk of retread and having it jump up and bite your air lines.

Hey Robert I’m a civilian with just a small radio in my passenger vehicle. It’s rare when I’d feel the need to do this myself but I’ve always wondered how a trucker identifies another specific truck, like if he needs to let him know he can move over in front of him. Does he identify the color of the truck on the trailer? I’ve always just heard the guys out there say “come on in driver”.

Agreed, I recently drove to Groves, TX from Chicago, IL and back and I monitored 19 all the way there and back, it helps listen to some of the conversations and I only chimed in a few times like when there was a full size suitcase in the middle of the left lane on a 2 lane hwy. After I called it, I noticed that a few drivers passed the message on and then it turned into a chat about what if it was full of money.

Hey C.P.L. Chronicles, I was wondering if you could give me some information on what you think about an mobile app that replaces the CB Radio and what the positives and negatives are regarding conversations over CB that you would want to see and not see in the app. What is it that truckers really need and desire while on long hauls. Thanks brother and drive safe!
@RobertCookdarkarts6 жыл бұрын
The first thing would be quite obvious, and that would be that mobile devices are illegal to use while driving and especially while driving a big rig, so having a CB app would be pointless! The positives of having a CB , safety, huge bonus n the safety department as drivers give you the heads up on upcoming traffick jams or wrecks or broke down vehicles or debree in the road or icy spots things like that. What truckers desire the most while over the road, that's easy! We desire a parking spot that we don't have to rush and try to beat other drivers to. Parking spots are in complete short supply! It sucks
@harrisoncha28186 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the insight and I apologize for the late reply. That was a very good point you make though; mobile devices are illegal to use while driving! Stay safe on the road and please let me know if you have any other ideas that you would like to pass along!

Brakes! Brake check! Pay attention. This is the most important. Other than that fancy southern jargon for any and every term there is already a name for. Just speak english. Learn to understand the jargon as you go. And don’t become a chatty cathy out there on channel 19 like most southerners. A little southern hospitality would go along way “take it up to channel2-?” Keep 19 clear for road conditions and alerts. Take the “i told my driver manager...” crap to a different channel.

For some reason listening to this hand is really painful. Its not baby bears its county mounties. And the shit u hear in truck stops is halarious.

I'ma 4wheeler with a cb. Are 18 wheelers usually on the same channel? Is it bad etiquette for a smaller wheeler to alert on that/those channels?
@akbychoice6 жыл бұрын
Jason D. It’s a good thing to alert on 19, if you want to just jabber then connect and both go to another channel. If you aren’t on 19 when things happen, you likely won’t know till it’s to late.

Interesting,people still use cbs ? We have laptops,cellphones,fm radios uhf/vhf,gmrs,frs and Nextel walkie talkies . Cb era ended late 80s early 90s. I can turn mine on and hear nothing anymore. Cb radios are dead, thanks to new communications.
@akbychoice6 жыл бұрын
TheParanormal70 but you aren’t gonna call the group ahead or behind on your cell phone and find out there is a white out, a pileup, a flooded area, a bridge out or a tornado. CB was good till morons started amping up and being foul mouthed music playing POS.
