WTF have these guys DONE to the bike? I mean, wtf - USD fork and 17" crotch-rocket wheels? FUCK THAT. I figure if you're allowed substitutions in classic racing, they should be period-correct or equivalent. And there are fantastic components which could be used! Rebuild COMSTAR wheels with Akront "NERVI" rims for 50% weight reduction and sizes up to 5.75x18" - shouldn't be a problem to replicate the actual works Comstar rims in 3.50x18" - OR perhaps even the 4.00x18" Dymag rims from the '82 Superbike races, maybe substitute a 4.25" Akront, that's what I'M building my own wire-spoke rims in, are sizes which EXISTED back then. And that's not the only way to improve the Comstar wheels - you can use front wheels in the rear position, with a bolt-up cush-drive, that way could shave off another 50% from that area - use the same 9-rivet bolt-up rotor carriers with a larger outer ring of disc material. TRAC anti-dive forks? 43mm from '96+ ST1100-ABS, right-hand-side only BUT - you could use two right-hand-side legs. THOSE are the type of substitutions ya'll should be allowed to make, 'cause they'd be a very close approximation of the original works-spec components. TONS of shit you could do WITHOUT ruining the whole character of a classic bike. This kind of shit shouldn't count. Should be disqualified, IMHO. Otherwise - why in the fuck are you even a fan of classic bikes? Seriously!
