Love cassettes! Growing up in the mid 70’s can’t help myself. I love collecting cassettes since I was early teen. Bring back the 70’s, 80’s…❤️ please….

In the Dungeon Synth scene and maybe the Synthwave scene they're in use again.

Thats the power of the 80s to bring it back the 80s lifestyle to life again.

We came from LP resurgence to tape. I bet CDs and MDs are next.

cassettes were only better than 8tracks. Modern cassette players are mostly mono with no dolby. Owning your own music in 2024..that I can get behind.. cd's are far better in every sense

It has never been uncool to begin with.

Vinyl is back,Compact Cassettes are back but If you really want nostalgia let's talk about 8-track cassettes. Super popular in the early 70's and Super shitty quality in both design and sound. (P.S.: for those who remember; always keep a pack of matches around to to keep the playback alignment near correct).

? Labels started pressing new releases on cassette close to 10 years ago... now they're not so much as sales have plummeted and costs have gone up to manufacture them. So.. er... no.. the 'revival', such as it was, peaked a few years ago.

2022 sales of cassettes were at a 20 year high. From 2021 to 2022 cassette sales have gone up 28 percent. From 2020 to 2021 they doubled in sales. Keep in mind I'm talking about US sales.

@@CarnageExecutioner how much of this is a handful of huge artists? As with all the data it's great that sales are up - but it's a select few artists that are causing the % rise. All good for them and retail... but a cassette revival? Not really.

@timhall3575 good point but you also forgot about blank cassettes. They sold over 400,000 cassettes last year, comparable to vinyl's less than 1 million sales in 2006 in terms of market share. Vinyl and cassette also are mainly comprised of major pop stars and rappers like Taylor swift and Travis scott for example, although a lot more artists are releasing or rereleasing their albums on vinyl. The market shows that cassettes are slowly but surely growing in popularity, like shown on my last comment.

@@CarnageExecutioner I am indeed not counting blank cassettes. If the market is growing amongst pop/rap artists then like vinyl 10 years ago the market will become swamped and whilst it will grow those bands/artists on indies will struggle with issues like capacity, price etc. Sigh...

@timhall3575 that's supply and demand for you. You also have the chicken and egg problem with good decks and blank tapes. NAC wants $67 with shipping to buy a 10 pack of brand new type 1 tapes, I buy NOS 10 packs of Maxell UR's for a third of the cost, and they come in 90 and 120 minutes instead of only 60 with NAC tapes.
