I love how Cillian is not only a great professional but also a humble and well intentioned man, he truly listen and answer the questions in a honest way. I love that i'm a time were people like him still are trying to make movies meaningful.

@monklingtoneverjet2536Ай бұрын
yeah the depth of the emotion, Cillian's response to the environment was coming to life. I dissociated in the cinema to appear un moved, when my whole body wanted to scream and cry I literally joined with the consensus that in order to get on in this world there are things we have to ignore. I could feel the vulnerability being locked in the coal shed, pushed away

Thank you for you interview. Just saw it in Montreal and couldn't help but think that we also shared a similar experience under Duplessis. So many women and children were put in the "crèches" and so many families were pulled appart. Truly heartbreaking. This movie should be seen by everyone.

I know I'm probably not saying anything new but it is SUCH a beautiful performance. The work he does on his physicality, his movements, his facial expression. It's so delicate. I had read the novella and it was very moving, but seeing it on the screen is even more touching. Please go see this film.

Lovely interview! Really appreciated the deep thoughtful questions given that made up a lovely conversation overall! I would personally love to see all the Irish gang from Cillian, Barry, Saoirse, Paul, etc in a film together some day! If not that, maybe a huge Irish version of “actors on actors”😏 Great job.

I love the solo interviews with CM with serious interviewers. CM seems to enjoy talking about his work, and a great interviewer will let him talk. Personally, I did not enjoy many of the Oppie interviews which included Downey and especially Blunt, who often interrupted. The Kimmel interview was painful to watch. (if you liked them, that’s fine. Weren’t my cuppa tea.). Thank you for posting. Highly recommend the film. Seems to have more showings in my area.

What I loved about the film, is they don't dumb it down for the audience. The movie is like a Jigsaw (bit of a spoiler), you piece it together while the movie goes on, and then the very unconventional ending makes it perfect. Gives the characters/societies plight to the audience. Also, I loved how they didn't try to emotionally manipulate the audience with a sad violin score or speed up the pacing, allowing you to really take everything in. Certainly not a comfortable viewing experience, but an essential one.

Oooh, I am loving this - getting a glimpse inside the artist's mind of the amazing Cillian Murphy. Love hearing him process his approach to the craft. It is an art form I could never tackle - don't want to either. But I love watching the "true artists" (or did he say "real artists) tackle roles like this - real life like everyday characters going through such pain and angst.

What he said about being able to feel like you can be a bit of a fool on set to get to what works reminds me of what Derek Centerfiane said about making the Light Between Oceans He said when he finished reading the book on the subway he was crying and very aware he was crying in public and he said he went "wow this is embarrassing....i have to make this a movie" 😂 and that's also how he oicks his actors, because you have to be willing to be embarrassed not just to see what works but to be able to display the things thst get to the heart A lot of people who act have said they had to get over the hump of feeling foolish and embarrassed when you start doing it, but then also to display true emotion you have to be willing to look or feel weird I've noticed (on smaller scale) a lot of content creators and artists have a fear of being "cringe" that holds them back creatively because if it fails then its humiliating, but you don't know what works until you see what doesn't To make good art you have to be willing to be embarrassed and look weird

The Irish often harbor profound resentment towards the British, yet struggle to confront or resolve the complexities within their own historical and societal challenges. If one intends to argue from a position of moral virtue and claim the high ground of righteousness, it is imperative to ensure that their own narrative stands unblemished. Hypocrisy is the enemy of credibility; before casting judgment outward, one must have the courage to first reconcile with the imperfections of their own past.
