Fun Fact: on Sunday in the 1920's Stanley Park was closed to all car traffic. An idea to be great again.

Wow, I bet Vancouver’s property developers, every time they cross the Lions Gate bridge, they must go crazy with frustration at the lost opportunities to launder offshore cash that we’re just ignoring, they likely dream of the advertising campaigns they could run. The Stanley could be an Uber exclusive gated community.

Excellent comment. See if you can find the interview Harvard did with Jared Kushner , Trump’s son-in-law just did. It’s about what he thinks should happen to the Palestinian people living in Gaza. Basically he wants to force them to live in the desert, clean up the strip and build fancy hotels.

Had a looper infestation back home thirty years ago, blasted several hundred hectares of forest, local lumber company had a field day salvaging dead hemlock.

Ugh. At least it's mostly smaller trees that are affected.

I hope replanting discussions include vegetation that can cope with very dry, prolonged times now that is going to be an on-going issue. And not just Stanley Park, but the whole Lower Mainland. Urban sprawl is paving over everythings and everywhere- taking out numerous gardens, lawns, bushes, and trees as row after row of houses turn into unaffordable condos with hardly anything green..certainly not beautiful Old trees. Look at Oakridge zone, along 41 ave. east and west. Just one example of many. I despair when i see so greenery disappearing....

Stanley Park is surrounded almost completely by ocean. It's not ever going to be a DRY place!!!

Urban Sprawl, greedy developers care only about profit, they could care less about liveable green space.

I don’t think anyone wonders why we have fires, we have trees, therefore we have forest fires.
@socksrwooly8 ай бұрын
@@robertshiell887 no you have piss poor forestry control. If you leave out firewood. You end up with the massive fires we had in the Prairies in 1920, when all of Saskatchewan burnt down

perfect. Now use that space in the park to build affordable housing finally. in fact reduce the park by 90% and make it livable.
@DwightStJohn-w1l8 ай бұрын
it's already affordable housing. just add more blue tarps.
