I bought a 497 awhile back and moved the jumper to get the CB. I have a good swr . my question is after the conversion does it still receive on the other bands and is anything else required after the conversion? As of yet I haven't received the first voice from it but my area is slightly remote.

So I have this radio. It won’t swing more than 35 watts. If I set the dk with the variable to 2 watts it won’t swing over 5 watts. Not sure if I got a dud or not ?! Measurements on my Dosy pm2000 which has always been fairly accurate.

This is a good clear loud radio. Easy conversion.Don't let the size full you! With little or no tuning is a strong powerful radio hi-fi sound out of the box. Need more info on tuning board.I like different colors. Blue during the day and red at night is my favorites.

For those of us who don't own fancy guns and solder suckers, can we carefully cut one or both sides of the resistors instead of this procedure? At 72, no way do I want to start soldering on a new board, and the closest tech is 95 miles from me.
