For 1986-87, under CBS' "Share the Spirit" season, Murder She Wrote was still the network's top show at #4. 60 Minutes was the only other show in the top 10. Dallas, Newhart, The CBS Sunday Movie and Kate & Allie were doing well in the teens. and My Sister Sam, Falcon Crest, and Knots Landing were hanging on in the 20's. The song is very good. I love it. This season would be the debut of CBS' "Stop the Madness" PSAs against drug abuse. There would be follow up campaigns against AIDS (AIDS: Facts for Life), Alcoholism (Be Smart, Don't Start), and Drunk Driving (Choose a Designated Driver). Finally, CBS was home of Super Bowl XXI.

CBS was still sporting a very strong lineup with a mix of veteran shows and newer ones. They were a strong number two; right behind NBC. They’d eventually swap places with ABC several seasons later and land in third place.

2:07-2:09: As of 12/6/24, I saw The Last Days of Patton with George C. Scott, which aired on this network on this exact season on Sunday September 14, 1986. I've also seen the 1970 Theatrical Prequel also with Scott in his Titular Role; thus Completing the George C. Scott Patton Franchise.

Not WTVT Channel 13. (Share the Good Times with Big 13.) Tampa-St. Petersburg, FL. Tampa Bay's CBS affiliate is just going on up and up... until 1994, during the big switch. Not Share The Spirit because WXFL-TV (now back as WFLA-TV) has their local "Spirit of Tampa Bay" campaign, so WTVT said the slogan as "Share the Good Times?" instead.

WTVT however, like some CBS stations is an exception (no way WTSP would be #1 (they were broadcasting from Holiday, FL and "WFLA" is in last after switching it's call letters to WXFL)...including WRAL in Raleigh, NC; KDKA in Pittsburgh, PA; and WTVJ in Miami, FL (they would soon switch to NBC). Despite ABC being #1 at the time, in Tampa Bay, no way it's it first, as it is in 2nd because of where WTSP is located, and it's the primary ABC affiliate in Tampa Bay, although WWSB also has ABC to compensate for WTSP's poor signal to the Suncoast.

Yep NBC stole the thunder from the other 2 and pretty much ruled broadcast in the mid-late 80s and mid-late 90s (with ABC having a brief rein at the top during the peak Roseanne years) while ABC got some of its mojo back beginning next season (87-88) CBS would begin a straight decade or so long funk as the networks prime time hits got old and its audiences older. it took a change in ownership (Viacom) to get CBS back in "fighting spirit".

@@thewipsportstalkfan3160 It's amazing how CBS just kinda, rusted over like an old car. Which is apt given how old the apparent target demographic for their shows got. Like ABC had probably the strongest SatAM lineup in the late 80s (given they were one to the last OTA networks to give up their block, that says a ton); and NBC basically owned prime time for 10 years. CBS was just kinda locked out until Survivor and the late 90s overturn of the whole prime time structure.
