I was four years old at the time of these airings. It was the first Christmas that I can remember and I remember it fondly. Christmas time was way better back then than it is now. There was more of a charm and warmth to it back in those days.

I completely agree. I was 11 the time this was recorded, I miss those times. I try to recreate these types of Christmases in my home every year.

Oh, the nostalgia! We recorded the Christmas specials apparently on this date, and between these ads and the spinning CBS Special logo I'm taken back to being 5!

I was 4 years old and I still watch this every year on dvd which I transcribed from an old vhs my mom made and it is literally the only thing that gets me into the Christmas spirit. it has to be the 1987 one these commercials exactly, nothing else will do.

Californian Raisins, God I remember I used to have the toys of them, they were from the McDonald's Happy Meal, also I remember watching those Christmas Specials when it was on CBS (I Still Wish that Dish Network would Bring it Back), I would Watch Frosty The Snowman, Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer, Twas The Night Before Christmas, Santa Claus Is Coming To Town, A Charlie Brown Christmas, and How The Grinch Stole Christmas.
@MLaker2214 жыл бұрын
Garfield/Claymation Christmas with the California raisins premiered for the 1st time this year on the 21st. Then 1988 they were again on the 23rd 1989 - on the 21st again 1990 - this would be the last time, really early in the month on December 7th

I know I'm 3 years late...lol but I was 5 back in '87 and 40 now 😞. Growing up in the 80s&90s Corporations seem like they actually took time in creating their Commercials. Nowadays they seem to suck. Thanks for posting. CBS Storybreak was one of my favorites shows back then.

Great times, great memories and great entertainment back then. Watching all these classic and timeless Christmas cartoons and commercials were fun and enjoyable and they also used to show them on ABC and I believe it was CBS as well. For some reason it all stopped and went away and I'm just wondering why did it and I'm just also wondering why can't they give us back our Christmas and other holiday specials the way it use to be in the 80s and early 90s

This was literally 3 weeks before I was born. 😂😂 In December of '89, my mom taped a bunch of Christmas specials for me (and later my sister) to watch when we were older, and I do recognize a few of the commercials that also aired that year! The Frosty bumpers, the McDonald's star commercial, and the CBS special presentation spot are definitely core memories of mine. Thanks for posting!

My first memory of these Christmas specials was Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer, second was Santa Claus is coming to town ,and this one. I was about 10 years old and youngest sister was about 8 years old. they don't show it anymore around Halloween 🦇 It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown. and after that the Christmas season starts.

My mom thankfully had every Christmas cartoon recorded on 8 vhs tapes with multiple cartoons on each and had commercials and all. I still have them and I'm going to have them converted to blu-ray and DVD then I'm going to burn them to my old computer and download them to USB sticks. I'll probably sell 128gb USB stick's if anyone is interested.

OMG! 1987 and McDonalds said “Happy Holidays!!!” It’s almost as if people in the 80s simply wanted to wish others to have a good time, no evil commie plot to wage war on Christmas or anything.

It seems to me that these days, most commercials feature a dog - regardless of whether or not the product being advertised has anything to do with dogs. From cleaning products to insurance and everything in between. Also, I find it particularly annoying that a great deal of commercials for prescription drugs with side effects often show people walking around in work-out clothing talking about their personal health issues. And of course they're walking dogs. Either that, or how important it is that everyone should stay well-hydrated. I believe my least favorite of this type of commercial are the ones for Ozempic - which inevitably show some overweight bald guy (and of course wearing garishly colored work-out clothing) walking around with a clipboard in his hand, high-fiving everyone he sees for no discernable reason. To make it worse, the background music co-opted by Ozempic is a great song from the 70s: "It's Magic," by Pilot: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nmfSZGuDg52sp6c
